Learning how to saddle stitch leather is one of the most basic, but important leather working skills you need to learn. Saddle stitching is stronger and more durable than a machine (lock) stitch; although it does take a bit of time to master.
In this video, I show you how I saddle stitch and give you a few pointers. I know this is a bit of a longer tutorial, but saddle stitching is just one of those things where you need to invest time to get it down.

My name is Tim. Thanks for checking out my KZfaq channel. I started leather working in July of 2020. My passion for leather work quickly grew as I learned and practiced. I received a ton of help from the leather working community when I was new and now I aim to pass on what I learn to other beginner leather workers. I post weekly leather craft videos that include tutorials, free pdf pattern templates, how to's, tips and tricks, and any other leather work content that I think could help you out!

I love the dark video editing. It really gives me the feeling my phone just went into power saving mode. Really makes you lean in and focus to be able to see what’s going on.

Thank you! To be honest, this is an old video that was filmed at a time when I didn't have adequate lighting. I have plans to do an updated version of this.

I feel like it would be easier to see what is going on with the needle from an aerial pov

I'm new to the whole stitching, leather, tying off and everything. I have watched a number of your videos and they have been very helpful but I couldn't see anything in this video. I'm gonna give a a try and see how it goes.

Maybe the camera above your hands would give a clearer view. Your hands got in the way for me.

The camera angle made it difficult to see what you're doing. I can't see through your hands. Otherwise, great video, thanks!

Hi, what is the purpose of looping the stitch over the needle?
@BlackFlagLeatherGoods
@BlackFlagLeatherGoods 5 ай бұрын
Good question. It is what gives your stitches a slight slant. If you want them to be flat, then don't do it. It's really just a style thing.

His coffee cup holder is a nice beginner project plus the template is simple, and free. Oh and it doesn't require a huge cut of leather. 😊
