HI Andrea 😍💐 thank you so much for your feedback 🤗 I appreciate your encouraging comment, very much 🤗 if you could see the notes I have for video ideas, Andrea, you would go as nuts as I am going because, the list is so long that I have several pages of thin font to make the list look shorter! In the past 2 years, I have filled 4 books with notes, and then I stopped doing that and write everything down on the computer, so that I remember to film the video when I get around to it. It is crazy!! I get stressed out whenever I have another idea pop into my head and then have to stop what I am doing to write that down as well. IF I had all those videos done, I would not have to film until End of November... NOT including the blooms for you or request videos. So.... I am glad that you find the videos interesting and that the content is of a good variety! Thank you so very much for telling me that, I really appreciate it, Andrea! And thank you so much for watching 😘 hope your day was fabulous 🤗🌸

HI Robert 😍💐 it is definitely the better way to receive orchids. This bareroot malarkey can get old very fast... especially if after 18 months the result is 👎🏼... and then there are those that do make it and are now growing nicely in their pot and the whole 'thing' was not so bad after all 😄 I had a 50/50 day, but I will focus on the 50 that was worthwhile 😬 it is always good to see you, so... you have just taken that ration up to 60/40 😘 thank you so much for watching... and you, Wingman, have yourself a great rest of your Sunday ❤️🌸

Hi Jose 🥰💐 thank you, my friend, I appreciate your time on this Sunday to be watching my video and leaving me a comment 🤗 During the summer, ... as soon as the base of the tub was dry, I added a little water again. It had to stay damp more than it had to be dry because of my lack of humidity, so, once dry... more water. And so on and so forth. Sometimes I left it a little too long for my liking, but I did not have the tub tied to my waist, and some instances were longer than I would have liked. 😬 But, for the most part, the high humidity in the fancy tub, did it's job 🙌🏼 hope you had a great Sunday, Jose 🤗🌸

I found your video searching for bareroot orchid care. Very informative. One question, sorry if anyone already asked, you mentioned dry-wet cycle. How do you accomplish that? Drain the shallow water let the root completely dry and then add water back?
@NinjaOrchids
@NinjaOrchids 11 күн бұрын
Hi Frank 😍💐 welcome! I appreciate you taking a moment to check out the information of this video and as I have not seen you here before, first of all, a warm warm welcome! Thank you for your feedback 🫶🏼 in the set up I am showing in this video, I do not use the wet / dry cycle because I do not have the high humidity in my climate to be able to allow any drying out in between watering cycles. So, I opt to leave the reservoir filled with water to act as the humidity buffer for the new roots to grow towards, which, with this method is... they will grow down into the empty space. Which, once long enough, I fill the pot up with my media knowing that the roots are long enough to absorb water. If you have high humidity, and I consider 70% and higher, consistently, as high humidity, you do not need to be so on top of having water to act as the humidity provider and can do as what you referred to. Fill the pot, let the roots touch the water and then drain the pot after 30 minutes. Media will stay damper in high humidity conditions, and with that have the same effect as what I am doing by constantly leaving water in the reservoir. I hope that this makes sense, and please, if my reply prompts any further thoughts you may want to run by me, let me know. I recently had to repot the orchid in question and if you are interested, as an update, I will leave the link here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nK2bhtl9rr6bj4k.html In the meantime, I hope you are having a great day, and once again welcome 🫶🏼❤️🌸

maxima is definitely a vigorous root producer, unlike lawrenceana. Unfortunately it is slow to grow from seedling size, the ones I bought last year haven't really progressed much. I think the rex seedlings I deflasked last October have grown faster. I just received a package from Thailand today. Only two of the plants still had leaves, surprising that any did after a month in transit. All I can do is give them all a soak, pot them up and wait. No fertilizer at all in the meanwhile, just enough plain water to moisten the sphagnum periodically. I'm a bit miffed because the plant that was the entire point of the order, Peristeria elata, is questionable at best. I guess if the Dendrobiums make it, it wasn't a complete waste of money. (there was a bensoniae in the mix)

Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! And this division is definitely trying to get it's mojo on! This division was a juvenile, as I like to call it (NBS) ! I saw it on the AfriOrchids web page, when I placed the order, and had it in the cart, but I was waiting for the extended catalog to be sent to me by email to complete my order, so when it came time to pay up, the orchid was out of stock. I was happy to see that Matt snagged it or some of the ones they had left, but they were not sold as seedlings. The older leaves are already 2,5x the size of the new growths that formed this past season... so, this one is in recovery, clearly! I am hoping that the next growths will grow to juvenile size again and have blooms in 2024 🤞🏼 I am so grateful to Matt for sending me a piece of what he received 🙌🏼 I am sorry to hear that your Thai friends did not migrate well to your side of the hood! Certainly risky... this time of year? A little hot I would have thought. But one month... is that normal? 🤔🧐 woohoo.... you gots yourself a bensoniae 🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🙌🏼 yay!! Bring on the sugar vanilla fragrance 🤪 YUM!! Sugar cookies with some ginger tea... oooohhh I would love some of that before bedtime... gotta stop thinking about it. Hope your day was awesome, Michael! Thank you so very very much for watching ❤️🌸

🌸🥷🏼Trish San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 guten Abend Orchideen Schwester ❤️ I noticed that word, yes and it clicked 😅 since I stopped being eager beaver about getting into the orchids and doing a repot, I am so much more relaxed about everything else as well, so... there is a domino effect there! Even now, to the point that I am hustling to deal with the ones that are growing new roots and need to be dealt with before the winter hits and they come inside. Now I am hustling to get things done, whereas in the past, I was hustling to get things done 🤪 make that make sense! 😂😂 we are all crazy here ... its ok! 🤪 thank you so very much for spending time on your Sunday, watching the video 🌸🥷🏼, I so appreciate it, Freundin!! HI Beverly 😍💐 welcome! I have not seen you here before, so a warm warm welcome and a big thank you for being here, for watching and for your comment. I appreciate that you left a comment, giving me the opportunity to welcome you and express my appreciation, so thank YOU very much! Ooohh, I used to have a big garden and loved every minute of it. I dug out a massive pond with a shovel just so that I would not have such a huge lawn to mow 😅 no heavy equipment and it was so nice to see my ecosystem come together, so... great memories and I do miss it. My body would not be able to cope with a big garden like that anymore, so orchids are filling in that blank. Pretty similar care and attention needed and an all year round endeavour 👍🏼 I love lava rock for orchids. They love lava rock, so it is a win win for us and them. So glad that you found my channel and I hope to see you more often. Please know that, you are always welcome to ask any and all questions as you discover growing orchids. Sometimes there is a hesitancy to ask questions because it would appear to be 'so obvious' and maybe the answers are, but that is only our intuition needing a second opinion and confirmation for something we already know. So, never hesitate to ask 🫶🏼 I hope you are already having a great Sunday Beverly and once again, welcome ❤️🌸

FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin!! I hope that I can get a little more detailed with this series, dig a little deeper and go a little further with the information, also... not try to keep video duration as low as possible while cramming in information. This series is my get out clause for things I want to talk about that I usually would omit in other videos because it could be deemed as mucho blabla. A MasterClass digs deeper, so.., thank you for your feedback on this series! Even while I talk, I keep thinking video length, and then I stop myself and remember... it is a MasterClass, so, I can talk talk talk and go on tangents that are relevant. I hope that it will be well received 🤞🏼 Thank you for being so supportive! If I were further along with my channel, this series would be for Orchid Ninjas only, but.... I am no where near where I need to be... sigh! But it may help for YT to 'find' me 🙏🏼 really appreciate you watching, amiga mia! My Sunday was fine, I did not get everything done that I wanted to,... it was very windy outside so the patio took priority (that is my excuse and I am sticking with it 😉) hope your day was sparkling 😘❤️🌸

Our bio security laws in Australia mean importing any plants, including any grown in soilless media is pointless. They are all quarantined for 4 months, regardless of treatments done prior to importing, photosanitary paperwork and then there’s the mandatory treatments and inspections you have to do once they arrive. Does not matter. 4 months. The end. The only time this does not apply is plants grown in tissue culture. So we all import flasks. Or grow on by other propagation means. I am quite envious that you all get to import, but I also understand completely why we are so draconian about it.

🌸🥷🏼 Sharon San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 how are you Rare Roots of Joy? 😍😍 I can imagine the frustration of not being able to get international imports! I am frustrated that I cannot send orchids to the UK anymore, so I have to keep your rules in mind and consider myself lucky that we can still do it this way. Hope they don't take that away from us at some point! Not that I am able to purchase any orchids for the foreseeable future, but still... we are lucky in that sense! I see the positive side of your regulations, as well. Everything is a little yin and yang! Hope you had yourself a fabulous weekend 🌸🥷🏼❤️ and I wish you the best of starts for the new week, good morning, btw! May your Rare Roots of Joy give you just that... JOY! Much love to you and thank you for everything ❤️🌸

Would you do this with a phalaenopsis as well? And do you like to use small or large leca for phalaenopsis?
@NinjaOrchids
@NinjaOrchids Жыл бұрын
HI 😍💐 I have done this with phalaenopsis as well, yes. I try to keep the media away from the roots I need to grow down and then fill around when the time is right. With large complex hybrid phalaenopsis I use a mix of large, medium and small leca. Basically I have the large leca at the bottom and then fill with the smaller leca to the top (if I am not suspending the orchid). The reason for that is so that roots do not have to crawl over the surface of large pieces of media before they find their way into the pot. For mini phals, and summer bloomers, I only use small leca. They are much more thirsty... qu'elle surprise! I hope that I answered your question and if I missed something that you wanted to address, let me know 👍🏼 thank you for also watching this video! 🫶🏼❤️🌸

@NinjaOrchids
@NinjaOrchids Жыл бұрын
HI Angela 😍💐 so good to see you again, I hope that you are doing well 😃 if your seedlings have long enough roots, then I would not use the suspension method for potting up. Anything with some roots that are viable while the climate is not harsh, and humidity levels are high enough, then they can go straight into the pot, using media that allows for more water retention. Seedlings need more water until they grow up a little to make them happy 👍🏼 I hope that this answers your question. If you would like more details and are unsure, then please feel free to visit these links and see if you would like to use the form for me to have a closer 'look' and a better idea of your environment, and I can answer your query with more precise details. 👉🏼kzfaq.info/get/bejne/isdyqt13xqmRZ40.html 👈🏼 👉🏼 cutt.ly/3XbDtKg 👈🏼 thank you so much for watching, Angela! @@angelaharrilal669 I really appreciate you letting me know your climate. If your seedlings do not have a chance to dry out in between the rain showers, assuming they are living outside, then please give them shelter so that they can dry out their leaves and base of the growths to avoid rot. I will pray for you and that He will watch over you and keep you and your loved ones, safe! 🙏🏼
