You should push the cutoff end toward the outside of the bars. So if your hand slide off the bars the end wont snag on your gloves.
@HTMR8 жыл бұрын
+dieselworld I'll try that next time.

You don't have to safety wire them up, but it does help when you are hanging on for dear life!
@HTMR11 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Adding wire is pretty easy and can be done at a later time.

Yes, hair spray works as well. I've heard guys use spray paint also. If they eventually slip in use, try safety wire, they won't budge.

Nice job! I did not know that you need to use wire to secure the grips but it makes sense since you are rough riding. Good Video!

Nice Video, last weekend i met a driver on the Mx-track that said he use Hairspray to get the grips better on the Handle bar. Its slips smooth on the bar and fits good if dry. ( Sorry for my bad english - im from Germany :/ )

Are there any alternatives to carb or brake cleaners?

Can you only use the wire? Don't want to be buying both

This time around im gonna safety wire my glued grips because i hate that they start rotating and slipping, and grips are actually very important especially if you do race or go on tracks!
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
Yes, also prevent slipping if grip were to get wet.
@salvadorgalvez530610 жыл бұрын
Yup, and thanks for the video and you made it look like a piece of cake

Do you have to safety wire the grips can you just leave the grips alone once you got them on?
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
No, wire is not required. All they do is try to eliminate slipping/rotating grips.

weird question but I really need to know the year and make of that bike. or what front forks are on the bike. because I bought a bike with front forks on it from a different bike and the look the exact same as those.
@ILoveNeeps9 жыл бұрын
+Steven Carter It's a 99-02 model kx 250. The same forks are used on the 99-04 yamaha yz125's and yz250's too, I have a pair of spare forks sitting beside me off of a 2000 yz250 and they look identical.
@stevencarter42979 жыл бұрын
Yeah I figured it out from your other vids too. Thanks man. Now I can rebuild my mysterious forks in my 1991 kx250!

What gauge wire do you use, and can you purchase at Home Depot, lowe's?
@HTMR8 жыл бұрын
+bodeans59 I'm pretty sure it was .032 stainless wire like this: amzn.to/22tvH58 Don't know if the big box stores carry it.
@regoguns51110 жыл бұрын
do you do this to atvs too
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. Especially if they start to rotate on you.
@katydeluca92210 жыл бұрын
are those stock plastics?? and fairings or a kit?
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
The shrouds are black and number plates green. I think stock shrouds are green and number plates are white. FX graphics.
@katydeluca92210 жыл бұрын
so you didn't buy one of the plastic kits? I'm thinking about getting the polisport or acerbic one but i havent talked to anyone who has it
@HTMR10 жыл бұрын
Katy Deluca Katy, I bought the bike this way, so I'm not sure.

help full hint , righty tighty, lefty loosey, this applies with wire too.
@HTMR9 жыл бұрын
I guess it doesn't matter, but righty tighty feels more natural.
@MrTonyharrell8 жыл бұрын
You're gonna need that knife to get that new grip off if you use glue. Get some safety wire pliers and safety wire at Harbor Freight.
@HTMR8 жыл бұрын
Yes, getting them off will be fun. Even with glue and safety wire, they still spin a bit. Thanks for the Hf tip. I don't safety wire often.
