Excellent table, and great directions, exactly what I was searching for. You explained more in detail in 5 posted steps than many do in a 20 minute video. Thanks for that

Hey, this is an awesome table. One question though...if sanding resin to a very high grit, what do you do where the wood is concerned? It's not supposed to be sanded to as high a grit as the resin, yet in some cases would be very difficult not to sand. This difference in sanding will certainly show up as soon as oil is applied. Or, do you just sand the whole thing to whatever grit you're using on the resin? HELP!!!

Two things: 1) if you clean with water and a rag priot to finishing, you will raise the grain of the wood again. Did you water pop the grain to minimize the raising? 2) you say to sand upwards of 220 and up to several hundred or a thousand depending on the finish sheen. But rubio monocoat explicitly recommends to sand NO HIGHER than 180 grit due to the hardwax not being able to penetrate the pores nearly as well. This has always been my gripe with RMC. How are you able to sand so high? I would imagine this would look spotty over time due to the RMC not adhering completely

Water pop will raise grain in lower grits but not much at higher grits. And the sanding recommendation was for the epoxy only, not the rest of the table.

Hi there from Nepal. I have been involved in resin projects and particularly with the sanding, I used the sand paper till 2000 grit which is the last grit available in our market. However, I am not able to find the polishing machine for fine finishing in the hardware shop. I have been planning to buy the angle polisher used in polishing car, can I use it for polishing the resin top ?

Hey, greetings from Germany, thank you for the great content! I successfully built a small river table, but now I am working on a dining table and Im having a problem. Yesterday I flattened the bottom side of the table and this morning I woke up to see the bord has bended big time- 5mm in the middle. Please help me solve this problem.

Hard to say without seeing a picture, but it's probably because the wood was not completely dry.

Hey! I love this table! I also love the tips. Wondering if you know what to do when there is holes like chips from flattening with a router and jig. Also do you think the Bosch GET75 is a good sander. I feel like the Festool is very expensive for me and I see a lot of people saying the Bosch is similar. Thank you so much!
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, thanks so much for the kind words. I know exactly the holes you are referring to after planing the resin with a router. This happened to me quite a few times from a dull router bit or trying to remove too much material at once. I remove the debris with an air compressor and fill the holes with clear resin before sanding. Bosch makes great tools and the GET75 will work just as well as Festool. I use festool bc I opted for a mobile workshop. I chose to get rid of all my stationary tools except for my bandsaw and go all festool bc of the cohesive system and portability. Plus, I am German and love German tools. ;)

Great video friend and thank you for it. However you said for glass look use 1200 grit or above. I have seen people use all the way up to 7000 grit. How high would you go with the grit? Which would be your finish grit if you wanted the clearest look possible and you were making jewelry? Thanks!!
@killtyrant
@killtyrant Жыл бұрын
From what I've seen, if you want a glossy look, you're gonna want to add polish when you're around the 4k grit or higher.

On a car what can you sand dried epoxy primer with I painted over the epoxy sealer primer and it's hard to get back to a flat finish. I started to paint my truck with a roller and didn't like it but sanding it some after because I put some paint after applying the epoxy but didn't like the finish so was sanding my truck down with as low as 80 grit. Still it is hard to sand down to a flat surface now because the paint coats are over the top of it

Have a few air bubbles on the surface of my table. Will lightly sanding the top take these out?
@PahjoDesigns
@PahjoDesigns 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, it depends on how deep the air bubbles are in the epoxy. I would try to sand with 220 grit and see if that works.
