If you’ve ever come across a corroded battery terminal in a Blue Oval vehicle, it’s natural to want to replace it. Where this gets sticky, however, is instead of popping on a new terminal end like we did years ago, you’ve now got to replace this entire assembly, because that’s how Ford sells it. Trying to piece something together is possible, but difficult due to how cramped things are under the hood. You may also have to integrate a battery fuse somehow as well.
That’s where our OE FIX battery terminal fix comes into play. You can see in this video we have a cable end that interfaces beautifully between the battery fuse and the battery, and there’s also a cable repair section included for some applications to meld a fresh part with the familiar old way of repairing the terminal on a cable that was still serviceable.
The install procedure varies a little bit from application to application, but for the most part, you’re going to remove the terminal from any fuses or wires, and then make your repair, saving a boatload of money on parts and saving a ton of repair time ripping out wiring that is probably just fine still. As an additional tip, the battery fuses have a tendency to suffer the same fate as the terminal ends, so if yours is showing some green fuzzies, replace the fuse while you’re in there. Dorman has those, too. 😊
