Great tip thanks. Love the renogy battery monitor also. I set mine up to read a scale of 100% for 80% of the battery rated amp hours. Ie if you have a 100 amp hour lithium battery I set 80 amp hours as the battery capacity in the renogy monitor. I find this easier to know state of charge. At zero percent on the monitor I know I have 20% remaining. You can do the same AGM batteries but you would set the monitor 50% of rated battery capacity.

Nice tip, you can also put a momentary switch/jumper between b2b positive input and output.

Thank you. Very useful. Does the power pack not get overloaded when you waken the BMS? A depleted lithium battery will take all the power it can get so it will grab it from the power pack?

I have woken these batteries up with a solar panel direct with no control box for approx 5 minutes, then you can charge with all traditional methods . AC/DC or dc/dc

I'm currently having those issues with my Dakota lithium it's in sleep mode will not take a charge was stored for about 5 months now will not take a charge. Do you need to use a jump starter that's just for lithium or anyone will do

I have two of these and had miraculously gone dark after only four days… Do I need to recharge just one battery, and the charge will flow and be detected in both by the charger? Or do I need to charge both? All my products are itechworld, and I’m fortunate to have their recharger as well. Please advise.

How strange!? It’s best (if you have two battery’s linked) to put the charger on the positive terminal of one and the negative of the other, then they will charge evenly.

can i ask why you didnt go with itech dc2dc40a charger and went with enerdrive? I have the itech lithium batt but looking at there charger,in two minds right now.

My problem is the reverse - the battery isn't close to being fully discharged, but it's not fully charged either. But it's apparently telling the charger that it is fully charged so the charger won't kick into charge mode.

My guess is that u have a suspect cell or two & the internal BMS is preventing charging to full SOC as a cell peaks in its allowable voltage (3.65v/cell) & so the BMS prevents further charging until this cell voltage falls to within a set parameter, say around 3.55v. You could try a slow trickle charging current to slowly bring all the cells up as they balance, this could take some time. You could also just leave it on charge or a power supply of 13.8v - 14.2v for a few days mays help it to equalise or balance the cells.

Reminder to myself and everyone: Don't buy a charger without a user selectable power supply mode. From Projecta DC-DC charger user manual: "Power supply mode can also be used to reactivate a lithium iron phosphate battery which is on internal low voltage disconnect mode."

@@ausguy4385 Agreed and I have one installed. But my BlueNova LiFePo battery will shut down after awhile when there is no load. It then wants a bit of voltage to wake up again.

Hi mate. Usually just a tad I’ve 1hr of the car idling and it’s full again. (That’s with the enerdrive setup I have) it will depend on your charger size though. But even half hour and the battery is half full

What a stupid situation.... a good battery bms will start charging without this rubbish. Secondly install a low voltage cut off at 9.5 or 10v simply.

Hi mate, Rubish? we have a fully automated Enerdrive BMS which charges at 50a and and we have 120w solar on the roof.. some times free camping for several days with cloud cover will bring ANY battery down gradually over time running all the cars many camping lights each and every night and keeping the drinks fridge cool which is opened many many times a day.. the battery HAS a low voltage cut-off built in to it.. thats exactly why it does what it does.. its protecting its self.

@@AussieVanAdventures a actual low voltage cut off would stop this. You would lose power and then start the car as normal. Charging would then happen as normal... I take it you installed it yourself?

Hi mate, jump on the iTech website (link in the description under the video) it’s been a great battery so far and from my calculations, yes there is just a tad under 100 useable amp hours. Lithium really is a bunch better than our old 240ah SSB deep cycle setup we had previously.

@@AussieVanAdventures iTech are really low to mid-range junk, you would be lucky to pull 100ah out of a 120ah battery. A decent battery will give you the full capacity to 0%. iTech arent game to do that because they use B-grade cells hence the cutoff.

We do, we have two.. but sometimes the sun is either blocked due to where we want to park the van and or car.. or many other reasons. Also, I’m the heat the fridge works much harder, if there isn’t enough sun.. then the battery will start to deplete. This is literally the first and only time the battery has ever gone flat.

@@meanderingmarnochs oh yes, nice. Yea we actually we just did an install video of a fixer panel on the roof a few weeks back. We have just had a 180w folding previously, which works well.

So all the talk on being able to use 100% of the power in a LITHIUM is false .. So AGM you have 50% usable power . . Lithium you have 80% .. Another downside to the extreme high price gap for only 30% more usable power .. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I'm sorry, but that charge controller is stupid. It should have it built in to supply a little bit of voltage to wake the bms up when the bms cuts power to the outputs. I understand most people don't have this issue cause they have solar on there cars, but there will still be alot of time where this will happen to people cause they have let there car sit under the house or what ever. I honestly thought lithium charge controllers would have a wake up feature built it to make this type of thing more user friendly
