How to scan QR codes on any Android phone? In this tutorial, I show you how to scan a qr code with your Android phone. This means you can scan QR codes on any Android phone including Google Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus, and Moto. Scanning QR codes with an Android phone is easy without an app and only requires the camera. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions while you scan QR codes with an Android phone.

Follow the steps below to scan QR codes on Android:
1. Open the camera on your Android phone.
2. Open the camera settings. Look for an arrow or a gear.
3. Once in the camera settings look for Scan QR Codes. This could be it's own option or is also labeled Google Lens Suggestions.
4. Once you have enabled QR codes scanning on your Android phone go back to the camera and scan the QR codes.
5. Select the pop up to open the QR code.

So one must have two phones or access to a computer if u receive a QR to one's phone? Not much good if travelling or otherwise without two phones!!!!

@@pyellard3013 This is a very good point. I will work on getting a tutorial out that will show you how to do this. If you needed it now you can simply take screenshot of the qr code them open the image and use Google Lens to open the qr code.

Yes, but how do you scan a QR code of a picture that's already in your gallery. For example, if I take a screenshot of a QR code or a friend texts me a picture of a QR code, then how do you scan it? On iPhone, there's a button your press while looking a photo and iOS automatically detects the QR code in the picture, providing a link to press. What about Android?

1 different location, on this Android phone, is down among options list -- Night Mode, Beauty, Portrait, etc. Clicked the one saying "More" and the new options included QR Scan.

So this works for my phone. However this does not seem to work for my computer. When I get an email about a substack I can read right from my email. However there is a note read in the ap. I can do this on my phone When I try it on my lap tap it goes to a window to download the substack ap There is a qr code I take the picture but from there how do i go to the article I want to read

It's all getting far tooooo silly. I really hate all this overdone oh so clever (not) tech and all I want to do is return an Amazon parcel via a shop that takes the courier's parcel. Amazon used to just let me print a label and take the parcel to the shop. Now the rotters (who may be Amazon or the dumb courier company, who knows) want to charge me for using my own printer and going to the trouble of sticking a label on to their box! The only "free" way is to do this nonsense scanning and carry my phone with me on the walk to the shop. Well, guess what? Some of us aren't wedded to our silly phone gadgets all day and don't carry them everywhere. Especially not on walks. I don't want to emulate a 20 year old oblivious to traffice, head stuck in phone stepping on to a road without looking where they are going. I mean how pathetic is that? As if it's not bad enough being wage slaves wherever we live, most people are now phone slaves! So as my phone doesn't have this ridiculous scan function, I've simply printed off the QR code and the shop can ruddy well scan that instead. The single piece of paper is lighter than my flaming phone!

Fantastic comment. Humans have become slaves to the phones, portals, etc. etc.. I called the Advice Nurse line, and all she would do is read off of the computer screen. You can't add an ingredient onto a salad at a restaurant because it's not listed on the computer (though they have it). You can't just go to the DMV to renew your car registration, you have to log into some portal. And everything that we do online is being scrutinized by the Powers that Be. It is horrible and we need to start taking back our power and distancing ourselves as much as possible from this brave new world.

Thanks for the instructions. However, as a total novice, I found the instructions going too fast (even after repeated playing of the video) for me to follow. Ideally, I'd love to have a clear Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 kind of hand-holding approach. I think most teachers of youngsters know how to guide the kids through a new process, like solving a math problem. I believe that's what most newcomers need to learn a new technology.

Open your Google app. Now at the right side of the search bar you should see a square icon with a dot in it. That is google lens icon. Click it, then you will see "scan with camera" button.

I have an out of date Android OS as the phone is old. Bought it in 2020. There is no such control for scanning QR codes with the camera. Would have been helpful if you had said your instructions only apply to Android OS X or whatever. Then I would not have watched as it does not apply to my phone.

It didn't work. Every "how to scan a qr on android" says the same thing. But my Samsung Galaxy which is a new phone, doesn't work. The turn on QR scanner option is there in the phone camera menu. It's on. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Suggestions? I am seeing a bunch of qr reader apps with malicious ads or scam software on them.

I looked into the settings, read the phone user manual...nothing about a QR scan. I really want to get that quest going! :) EDIT - no matter, sorted it out.
