Even so, just 2 and a half hours of listening to you explain your process is amazing. I've seen most (if not all) of your videos, and they're all genuinely fascinating. I've lost track of how many times I've rewatched your Mikasa and 2B videos, as they're just such great resources. I know you say you don't really "have an art style" because you change it up so much, but to me I'm really drawn to the hyperreal, slightly stylized Square Enix/Final Fantasy-looking characters. I'd be a very happy man indeed if you were ever to make another one of these kinds of videos on just like pure character sculpting. Although I can imagine how much work this must have been, so maybe not. Regardless, I'll keep tuning in to watch your content, be your next video in a month, a year, or two years 🤣

I really appreciate this video. I’m an hour in, but I honestly like the longer video because I can scrub back and forth. I also like the side conversations lol. I haven’t seen anyone do that before but it helped me watch and still be able to pay attention and focus. Silence is also totally fine-I can’t imagine talking for 4.5 hours straight.

9:55 An easier way to clean the edges of the mesh before you extract it from the mask: 1. create a face set from masked 2. select the mesh filter brush 3. set to relax face sets and it’ll smooth out the edge perfectly when you drag to the right. 4. Then to extract the face set you can either go to Face Sets -> Extract face set and eyedrop the face set to extract. (Need to manually add the solidify modifier) or hover the face set with your mouse and hit H, I, then H: (hides the rest of the mesh other than the face set hovered, “I” inverts the blank mask which masks everything, then H to unhide the rest of the mesh. Now you can do a normal mask extract with a really clean edge!

I'm a slow sculptor too and the reason is that I take time to analyse my sculpt to be perfect without errors/problems and sometimes I delete and repeat stuff on my project because my eye doesn't like what it sees. The reason why other sculptors are fast is that they never touched grass and have a lot of experience. Also Slow= quality, Fast= quantity. I've seen a lot of good artists that they are fast but they have a lot of problems on their sculpt.

Definitely takes a lot of sculpting talent to make this look good! My method right now is simple cloth sim, then cloth sim brush, and just a lil bit of basic sculpting to tidy things up. Still takes just as long tho and need a beefy pc for a high res simulation, but luckily for me doesn't require as much sculpting talent lol

Well.. let me ask you this. Which artist are you gonna hire? The one with the only thing he/she can do is use simulation OR the one with the ability to also sculpt cloth by hand? The one who can sculpt cloth by hand can easily fix cloth based on feedback, he/she can easily create cloth exactly the way the client want without too much trouble. That's my perspective at least.

If artist is good, wrinkles sculpted by hand looks a realistic and, often simulated cloth looks unrealistic and bad if person don't know how to use software in proper way, sometimes it is a lot faster sculpt something than tweaking it forevever waiting for particular wrinkles to appear in specific place because they are on concept, or because these particular wrinkles will be looking good on this specific sculpt
