You can use "Simple" instead of Catmull-Clark to avoid the smoothing, just like in the Subdivision Surface. So you can sculpt it instead to be smooth where you want

cool technique, i used the crease tool after the draw sharp a bit and it has a pretty cool effect pulling the higher parts together.

3:59 make sure you turn on "Invert to Fill" when using the scrape tool. Otherwise you won't get the "Flattened" look that is needed.

With the clay strips I get some weird unwanted lines in a 90° angle to my strokes. Makes it look unnatural because it turns into a visible pattern.

When I try this brudge, it doesn't scrape the edge of the plank, it bulges the surface on either side of a plank edge while leaving the edge untouched.

I think you figure it out since you post this, but if someone wonder too reading this, I think he enabled the symetry. You can enable this both on the tool settings ( you can see there is a sub menu symmetry which can be extend on the down right corner ) or on the up left corner of the viewport, there is a butterfly shape with x y z written next to it, you just need to enable whichever axes you want to have the symmetry on

Why don't you use dyntopo?
@3Dschool-David
@3Dschool-David 4 жыл бұрын
I like to use multiresolution because I can go up and down in levels. And a lot of times I can just delete my multiresolution and have my lowpoly already done for me.
@reditlord6592
@reditlord6592 2 жыл бұрын
With mulires, baking and apply the normal map is so much easier and time saver. if you use dynotopo if you want to export your mesh in a game engine, you surely need to retopo, which is a pain in the a**

not a fan of such technic. rather just grab a camera and capture some real world examples, like plywood, S3S boards. sculpting wood is way to difficult to get right and such a huge waste of time for such poor results.
