@@OutdoorBeards i heard you should use a nylon brush not a wire bush you take off the cermaic coating with a wire brush
@OutdoorBeards
@OutdoorBeards 3 жыл бұрын
That would depend on the grill. For instance, my grill has cast iron grill plates, though I have had other grills with coated plates in the past. The downside to nylon is that you can’t clean the grill while it’s hot because you will melt the nylon. I don’t like having to wait for the grill to cool down and since I have cast iron it’s not an issue for me.

After lightly coating my grill surfaces with the oil of my choice (peanut oil in this case), do I cook off and season with the hood open,,, or closed? And what temperature am I looking to reach for proper seasoning?
@OutdoorBeards
@OutdoorBeards 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for late response! Cook off should be with the hood open. Otherwise the excess you’re burning off will rise up and burn to the top of the hood. Since your doing this with the hood open and on a high setting you’re not looking for a specific temperature. You’ll know it’s done when you stop see the wisps of smoke.

@OutdoorBeards
@OutdoorBeards 4 жыл бұрын
Nothing should be sticky. The hood may brown during this process but you should not have sticky residue left over. Could be the oil you used? Or perhaps too much. This is the first I’ve heard of this problem and I have never had it happen. For the sticky residue, the best I can suggest without having it in front of me is a good scrub with a 000 steel wool combined with a grill cleaner.

I allready have pam but after baking an egg i.e. what is the best way to clean the pan for the residu? I dont want to use bakingsoda/soap mix cause baking soda is harder on the pans. Same goes for my new grill. Any tips are welcome. Untill then I will either use avocado oil or wait with seasoning the grill.

Wire brush, medium firmness, and some elbow grease. I sways leave the grill open when I do this so it doesn’t get so hot. I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.
