I just started my load securement training today watching your video on lunch break
@hypocriticalnihilist6453 жыл бұрын
Watch this video about how not to do it. Do not secure your load to the rub rail. Definitely don't secure your load outside the rub rail.

Joe, when i first started driving it was with Western. The load securement training has stuck with me ever since. I still remember the "f#ck you" speech lol. Recommended several people to your company and they are succeeding very well due to the program. Thank you.

Hi There! Quick Note! Important Note! That is... • You have the straps on backwards! There is a reason why the straps have a RED LINE that runs in the middle of it. If that line is broken, the strap is no good Violation 1 DOT Will FINE YOU • You put the straps OUTSIDE of the safety side rail They NEED TO BE INSIDE of the safety rail Violation 2 DOT WILL FINE YOU
@flatbedladyv21912 жыл бұрын

Thats the more proper way to do it and I teach new guys to do it like that... I dont agree with how you hook your strap hook to the rubrail but is legal.... I do it your way but most of the time I just strap them at the bottom without doing the x around the coil and then have a strap pulling back and one forward is a lot faster and works just the same. I was inspected coming out of Saukville, WI and didnt have any issues.
@markcobb65614 жыл бұрын
Rub railing straps hasn't been legal as long as I've been driving. 20 odd years. If the train hits anything, it cuts the straps. The x became a requirement in 2004 I believe. You just got lucky.
@MyKonaRC5 жыл бұрын
Would you do the same if you were using chains?
@thomasaiwohi59815 жыл бұрын
Excellent instruction . Question what loads need straps and what loads need chains. Keep up the great work. In Jesus name we pray.Amen

Wow! I’m not a trucker, but with this step by step video and the clear and detailed info I the video, I think I could do this! I have a question. I don’t know if anyone will even see this... but, do you guys check your load periodically to see if it is still secure? Do you have to undo all the bungees and straps from the tarp every time?? Just curious.
@heyinway4 жыл бұрын
Constantly checking mirrors for loose tarp. Check tightness of straps every time you stop by tightening winch. Everything comes apart and stored when unloaded.

@@jodiencarlisle4781 You're welcome ! Hang in there. I recently retired from 40 years of trucking, 30 as owner-operator and 10 as local hourly driver. Don't miss any of it, except all the great people I met all over the USA and Canada.

It is illegal to have straps outside the rub rail
@hypocriticalnihilist6453 жыл бұрын
It's definitely incorrect to be secured outside the rub rail, and also dumb to be secured to the rub rail.
@brianblack5463 жыл бұрын
It’s no longer illegal. The rules changed a couple years ago. Bad idea but not illegal.

If them aren't as heavy as some , I'd to see how many straps are required for them. Straps alone covered as much as tarps. Lol

Slinkys are easy, and your technique is good, but the only thing you did wrong is not show you WLL
@petestokes65483 жыл бұрын
Why don't you just use a tautliner Trailer then you don't have to "tarp" Still have to strap of course
@brianblack5463 жыл бұрын
calistoga trailers have their own problems with the benefit of no tarping. A flatbed with tarps is the most versatile and economical open deck operation.
@drivin3796 жыл бұрын

Tons of places I’ve been to don’t let you use chains because the customers doesn’t allow it

No chains are allowed on these loads. All it is coiled up wire rod. Put chains on these loads and you just bought that whole load.
