And btw, like a lot kids from my generation, my first real bike was a Sting-ray. And then an upgrade to a Scrambler 36x36. At the time I wanted to “mags” but now I’d much rather have the spoked version like I got. 🙂

My brother and I got bright orange 1970 Schwinn Fastback 100s when we were 9 and 10 after we were caught nicking a red Fastback 5 speed from a neighbour and getting caught riding it. After that, at 15, I got a Supercycle 10 speed. Everyone had one. It sure went fast but she was heavy. Great video that exactly showed me what I was looking for. Mind if I ask what type and the name of the wax you used on the springs? Thanks!

@@Synonomous - funny how we laugh at things we did that we’d yell at our kids for doing, huh? :) Thanks for the comments. I’ve been using MoltenSpeedWax on my chains, the original formula and now the new updated one. But worth mentioning that ZeroFrictionCycling says the Silca Hot Wax tests pretty much identically. @@AnAvidCyclist Thanks, I'll look into it for the pedal springs. Man they get nasty. Yup. When we all had those 10 speeds we used to ride around the neighbourhood like some kind of cool (we thought) bike gang until one kid thought buying some eggs to throw at things would be fun. He threw one at a garbage truck and not only did it stop it chased us around the neighbourhood until they caught one of us and put his bike in the compactor in the back for a while. I was peeing my pants hiding in a back yard while this giant truck was prowling looking for us like some kind of b movie gone wrong. Taught us not to play stupid games. Then we discovered alcohol....
