Have 3 & being that my oldest is adhd & my younger two are still starting out learning it helps to set our own pace . Its hard when your little brain is just wire differntly then the public school system. Pluss it helps us to think out side the box when it comes to learning than what say the school system teaches.

Yes! I learned this the hard way this summer. I tried to do all the things and ended up burnt out. I learned such an important lesson. I needed to protect our school block during the day. That means no outside activities until our school block is finished.

Yes, marriage and relationships first! We are also pretty firm on bedtime. That way it almost feels like date night every night. Erin I really appreciate the Joy that come across in your videos. Thank you! And now I want to read Boundaries for Kids.

Thank you so much for hosting this collab! Such wisdom you have! Knowing your why, praising your kiddos and keeping relationships first. Being ok pausing when we need pause was a hard lesson to learn for me but once I settled in and was ok with that, game changer! 💜

I have a reward system for my son in a form of a punch card. He gets a punch if he gets all his work done for the day and a punch if he does it with a good attitude. He gets 10 punches for the week total if he does it all well. Then he earns a reward. Sometimes it takes a week and a half or more to earn his reward because he doesn't have a good attitude or doesn't get all his work done. Other boundaries are bedtimes, breaktimes, and bad attitudes.

These are such GREAT boundaries, my friend! It sounds like we have a very similar mindset when it comes to prioritizing our homeschool. Thank you so much for organizing this collab! I have learned so much! 🤍

Thanks so much for this wonderful video! We definitely struggle with putting our marriage before our kids and I know a lot of that has to do with not having a strict bedtime. I do sometimes wonder why my kids can't be good 100% of the time, but yes, we are all sinners.

Our why: to give our daughter a tailored education and to go at her pace. Our boundaries: we don’t hold tight to a curriculum or time line. We don’t bully.

Love this playlist! I have a hard time saying no to service opportunities and knowing when I'm over extended. Ultimately, if I'm frazzled already, my help ends up not being all that helpful in the end. 😅 Making sure I know my limits and what I am available for is better for everyone in the long run.

I came over from Simply Living It.💗 You’re speaking everything that’s currently in my head!😉 I have a 24, 7 and 5 year olds. Our daughter didn’t start being helpful until she was in seventh grade and time flew by! With our boys I am learning very quickly that protecting that precious family time and not overcommitting to outside things is extremely important but also isn’t understood by all those around. I think that’s been the biggest struggle for me but since we homeschool out of conviction I have never felt defeated in that, only encouraged but because of that I feel even more protective of my homeschooling and home life if that makes any sense. Thank you so much for this video!💗

My why...my oldest is on the spectrum and I got pressured to have him in school. It was not a good fit, and then 2020...I was given that as a gift to make the leap to homeschool. Never going back!! I’m happy my kiddos can be kids and free to be themselves without pressure from others. I am also thankful to be in the drivers seat for guiding their learning (and keeping them little longer)!! Thanks for this video, I appreciate your insight 💖

Thanks so much! I haven’t done a video specifically about how I started my channel. I would highly recommend checking out Think Media if you’re wanting to start one. I’ve learned a TON from them! Looks like they’re doing a free training next week. Definitely worth the time to join in on that if you’re wanting to do KZfaq! kzfaq.info

We have the no name calling rule as well. We also have a rule that if you hit someone I always ask them who gets the last lick? Moma! They got a spanking for that. But because we are all a little hot headed I try to combat as much as I can with humor to diffuse our situations. When mine were younger if they got into an argument that led to name calling or hitting I would make them sit in time out together and hug each other the entire time. At first they hated it and were mad. But the longer they sat there they would start to get tickled from being so close. They might even make funny faces at each other that caused them to laugh at each other. Usually by the time their time out was over they were both giggling. So any time I could use creative punishments especially ones that caused laughter I did.

Hello! I am somewhat new to your channel and really am enjoying it, thank you for content! Although I don't have anything to say about this particular topic I do however have a question maybe you can help with or perhaps put a video out on. Something I have been really struggling with these past couple years for me and it's overwhelming!! GRADING!!!! How can one keep up on All the GRADING!?!?!? I feel like school and grading fill up 90%of my day recently I can't get ANYTHING else in. I literally have to stop from grading work in order to get dinner started for the evening. I could really use some good tips and tricks if you have any to share. I am a mother of 8 and been homeschooling since the beginning, my oldest is in his first year of highschool now and I have 4 others being schooled with 2 toddlers and a baby running around. So the grading isn't new to me it's just that I have more to grade and heavier subjects to grade. Oh I also grade my elementary aged children as they go so I'm being consumed with the middle grade and high school. Anyway I hope all this makes sense.... I'm desperatly looking for some good tips. Thank You ☺️🤗🙃😏

Hi! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos! I wish I had better tips for you on this but I honestly don't do very much grading. We use Teaching Textbooks for math, so all the grading for that is automatically done. And then most of the rest of the subjects we do family style mostly using a Charlotte Mason approach, so there isn't really grading involved since it's more about narration and discussion to assess their understanding of the topic. My oldest is only in 7th grade so we haven't had to do transcripts yet where I've really had to grade things. I'm sure there are other channels out there that might have better ideas for you. Sorry that's not more helpful!

@@TheEclecticHomeschooler Thank you for answering! That way sounds so much more relaxing than trying to keep up on all the correcting and grading. And your latest video helped me a lot too! I think I just have to try to get over my needing to put a grade on ALL the kids work! and just make sure they are understanding what is being taught. I'm so use to the traditional way and mindset that it's burned into me. Anyway, thanks again!
