I just recently purchased my first climber and did my first climb yesterday. I had watched many of your videos along with others that helped teach me what to do and not to do, so thanks for the efforts you put into your videos. You're making a real difference in hunters lives. I wanted to help in a little way myself by letting you and the people watching/reading know that their is a stand called the Buckshot Equalizer that eliminates the problem of stand leveling. Best investment in hunting equipment that I have ever made. I love this thing. I took a deer out of it on my second use. The freedom it provides especially on public land is incredible.

I switched from a sit-down climber to a hand-climber for the very reasons you stated especially the huge weight, bulk, and noise reduction, and unobstructed sight plane with my bow. I'm all in the tree so I do miss nap - time in the sit-down version. Lol.

I love taking naps in my API! nothing better than watching God's creation waking up at sunrise, hunting several hours, taking a short nap.... making my seriously hyped for bow season!! nice tip for getting past those knobs that stick out, I hadn't thought about the v shape opening , just when I thought I knew everything...lol, very good video!

just bought a lone wolf assault hand climber and after using multiple climbers it hands down the best in my opinion. very light, quiet and compact.

Thanks for the info! I have an acquaintance that didn't do it right, and is paralyzed on the legs now from falling out. It's nothing to play with. They're very safe if used the way they're supposed to be. Very helpful.

For xbow hunting you can do the opposite and when using your bulky climber you can set the top part high and stand up and use that front bar as a shooting rest.

I have a Summit Climber. For bow hunting I remove the seat portion that came with stand and use a strap on type seat (It can also be used on the ground when still hunting to give you a rest) with this you can set it for any height to lean back on, with legs slightly bent, to allow for sitting while in stand. I find this most useful for when you have to stand to make a shot because there is less movement and very easy to rise to shooting position. Also I use a bow with short brace height and place the top part of stand just below kneecap height , just don't put to much pressure on bar, to lean against for some stability and to know where the end of stand is without looking. I have had much success with this set up and I hope it helps other viewers as well. Also with the Summit there is included a strap to anchor the upper part of stand to tree instead of connecting to lower part, very secure.

I used to be the idiot that climbed a tree without one until one day a few years ago a storm blew in while I was in the tree and cost me a bow as I threw it out the tree trying to catch myself luckily I only fell about 5 feet before the stand caught me on the way down. it also helps if you stand out near the end of the stand. i will tie the top to the tree and actually lean on the shooting rail for even more range of motion for that hard shot. that way your not sacrificing comfort.

Two things one does it matter what type of tree you set up in like say maple or oak as en example or will almost any tree do and second I have found steel quick clips ( side release ) on a mail order site would it be best to switch them with the plastic ones that secure the foot to the seat for climbing.

Thanks for another great vid! Luv all the tips...especially the "V-shaped notch". I use a Doyle's gear hitch and do you know there is a "safe" way to adjust your Lone Wolf on the fly and also once you get to the top if you judged wrong and the bottom platform is angled down? I learned through experience but you can adjust the bottom platform and get it level safely once up in the tree. There is a you tube video if I remember right showing how. Do a quick search. Do you use stabilizer straps?? I have third hand archery's straps on my summit and I'm able to lean on my front bar to shoot down. Lets me keep the seat higher and it feels super safe and keeps me comfortable.

What harness do you use or recommend? Thanks for both of these climber videos, very helpful and informative.

As a finer point I keep a log of favorite trees and the strap / cable adjustment.

Is there any way you might do a video on setting up your safety harness and equipment? ( linemans rope, knots to use, things to make sure you do for safety when climbing) I have gone through a lot if not all of your videos and didnt see one on that. If you do have one i apologize about that. Im looking to go from stationary tree stands, with 6-8 ft height max. i want to use hand climbers or sit climbers, but i want to make sure when i get up 16 18 feet that i have properly set up my harness and safety equipment the correct way. Didnt know if thats something you might do a short video on. Thanks Sean.

What rope did you use for your safety tether connected to your harness just incase you fell?

Sean, i do have a old school hangon, if i need to take a nap i use a rope atleast 6mm around the tree then go under my arm pit then tie knot

We usually tend to notice more details than most folks do. Again, excellent video sir. Thank you. QUESTION: Where I go the grown-up Scrub Oaks are darn big in their trunks. And they don't go up all that high before that have large horizontal branches bifurcating outward. They're not really a straight-up and down and tall type of trunk as observed there in the forest you're in, in your video (I'm in SoCal). Is there a diameter limit on most climbing stands? And, assuming there is.. in that case... if a hunter desires to try hunting from above, how would this be accomplished instead of using these climbing type stands? I've always hunted from the ground there, so far. But totally acknowledge the benefit of getting up above their nose, and might want to try it some day.

hey Sean, great video. I have an XOP climber that is almost identical to your lone Wolf. I was wondering if you ever climb pine trees? here in Georgia, pine is a predominant species, and there are a lot of great hunting spots where the only trees around are pines. I've tried climbing them but the bark is so noisy! any tips for climbing them without it sounding like you're taking a garden rake to the side of the tree?

I liked the way you climbed with that old style, but is still tiring You don't know enough about how to set the new style climbers, That little seat is good for sitting a little while, but starts wearing on you after awhile. The stand and sit climbers, are great for all day, and can be shoot from a sitting position, and not hit the stand with your bow, when you are taking a shot. Light might be alright for short hunts but more times than not, it's going to take some time to get that buck.

Sean, I bought a used Grand slam climber like the one I saw in one of your videos. Of course I didn't get an owners manual with it and can't figure out how to make the pieces nest together to pack into the woods. Can you help me with this?

What linesman rope is that i use a 30ft rope but it can be a pain to climb with. All about safety but i like the length of your rope. Did you buy it that size or make it yourself? Keep the vids coming.

Sean do you use the Lone Wolf assault ? Because I see Lone Wolf makes 2 climbers one platform is 19.5"w.x 26"d and the other one is 19.5"w.x 30"d . Just was wondering how it is to stand to shoot ?

Hey Sean, I havw a gorilla greyback ive been using for about 12 years and it is noisy to set up. Once I'm up in the tree its solid and quiet but the set up is noisy with the metal to metal contact when unpacking it and inserting the pins. Lone Wolf climbers seem like theyre quiet lighter and easier to set up and pack. What are your thoughts I do like having the bar in front of me but these other brands seem like theyre all the same as far as the aluminum or steel being hollow which makes noise when hitting branches. Lone Wolf doesnt seemnto have that problem they seem quieter. Whats your opinion on that subject.

I use ratchet straps to secure the platform and the seat and its safe and comfortable

opinion on the Vulcan and summit viper classic SC climbing stands.

Sean do u bring ur treestand in and out everytime u hunt or do you set up a day or more in advance? I go back and forth on which is best.. If you do leave it what do you do if the wind is bad? Move it, not hunt it and hunt the ground some where else? Do u think it is better to bring a stand early and leave it or to carry it in every hunt?

I feel really safe in my summit viper elite vs my tree lounge being so far from the tree and the safety belt being connected to the tree stand instead of the tree and the scariest stands I got are the original loggy bayou the rubber grippers don't grab well on a wet tree especially the hand climber

Yeah, the tether is important. my tether wasnt snapped last year and the bottom fell after I got about 10 ft up the tree. took the breach birth effect to drop down and retrieve the base.
