Good video. You kept the talk to a minimum, no rambling folksy talk. Camera angles and distance were good, and the sound quality was good. Charge on.

Keep the videos coming when able. No burnout but slow and steady. So many tools and would love more videos. Curious if you’ve ever sat and wondered what Veritas normal bench planes are the ideal purchases for most people. I looked at the three plane set and it has the small smoother instead of the normal smoother. Deciding which planes to buy when. Buying small smoother first for small projects and then eventually buying the normal sized smoother. Or just using my Stanley 4 1/2 and buying a different Veritas plane. It’s a constantly changing ranking system of what I really need or want bad enough and that struggle.

Thank you!! I agree no burn out! I am working ok a build video. They are tougher than I thought they'd be so I've deff slowed down on videos till that ones done lol That IS the tool battle. Lol what do you like more? Do you want more than one? Do you need this one over that one? It's a tough but fun battle lol I have a mix of low angle, bevel down normal angle and bevel down high angle. And depending on the situation is reach for all of them. Now I won't use all of them on the same project but usually at least 2 per project. Which 2 depend ok the complexity of the grain. Can you use 1 angle for everything? Yes, but I don't sharpen as offten as I should :)

So after checking out your videos and a few others, i pulled the trigger on the large router plane kit, the inlay cutter head, and their medium router plane just for good measure.

@@BatCaveCreations sure will, so far I really dig the cabinet scraper. I suck out loud at hand sharpening so that was a bit out of my comfort zone to sharper the blade for scraper.

@90FormulaE8 I did too, hand sharpening takes a while to learn! Shameless plug (lol): Plane Wellness has a free hand sharpening course posted for May. :D as always, it is free if you have a diagnosis or disability (including veteran disability)!

Looks good, I got one of these when I bought my router plane, and have never bothered to try it out. I have a couple of furniture projects coming up and I should try to do some small inlays with one of them.

I have a slightly off topic question. I recently bought the same router plane, and am wondering if something is amiss. Watching your video, it doesn’t appear you’re having the same problem. When using the two wide blades, with the 90 degree heel, all is well. But, when I tighten a narrow blade, with the rounded heel, the heel is pulled to the rear, resulting in the cutting edge being tilted downwards, towards the wood, significantly changing both the cutting angle and the depth . The base of your narrow blade “appears” to remain parallel to the wood surface. Additionally, as the heel is pulled to the rear, the top of the cutter tilts forward, such that the depth adjusting knob just barely engages the slot in the cutter. Thanks for any input you can give. This was a comprehensive video….well done 👍🏼

I know exactly what you are talking about. I had the same concern but this is normal. When you look at the full piece blades (not the 2 piece wider and spear point blades), they are angled and not 90* to the post. This can become an issue when setting up the plane because when you tighten the blade, it tilts and cuts deaper than expected. To counter act this, tighten the blade collar as much as possible but still allow for the blade to move, this makes that angle change go away or eliminated completely. For the cut angle, it is a minimal difference that I wouldn't worry about. It looks drastic when the blades are out of the plane but it's not when they are in the plane. Also, the blades having a reliefe and angling forward when in the plane are not an issue for this plane because the plane body is what's referenced not the bottom of the blade, so it doesn't need to be flat. Try keeping the coller a little tighter when making adjustments that will help. And this really only matters when first setting up the plane/blade for its first depth cus after that the depth wheel controls the depth so just rotate slightly and trust that mechanism :) I hope that helps!

@@BatCaveCreations thanks for the quick reply….it’s comforting to know I’ve not got a faulty unit. The first time I used it, it cut flawlessly….no complaints there at all! I only noticed this potential “problem” when I saw how little the depth adjustment knob was engaging the slot at the top of the blade. Thanks for the help….and have a good one 👍🏼
