The second time you ran the eq basically undid everything you did the first time because you ended up eqing with the mains, whereas before you were only eqing the subs. I appreciate the fact that you uploaded a video showing the process, because there are a lack of videos detailing this process for sure. Your rew results looked great at the end so congrats on your hard work.

Good stuff Corey, I use 4 subs and found that listening while adjusting the delays in each channel by ear with music was the only way I could dial in the lowest frequency rumble, experimentation with inverting the phase on individual channels is a must, so many variables to allow you to get the sub frequencies right, using the REW to get the smoothest response curve is great, but the final tweaking for me had to be done by ear. The minidsp 2x4hd is an incredible product, nothing even comes close for multiple sub users.

hey Thanks Josh! Ya I tried inverting my subs too but it did not give me the smoothest sound. If you can do it by ear is great, but it's tough lol. I love the minidsp I think it even works better with more subs. I only have 2 subs but will be upgrading soon to 4. Thanks for watching.!

The alignment tool built into REW within the controls tab would've saved you a ton of time doing this. Input sub 1 and sub 2 and adjust the sliders and it will give you a predicted frequency response based on the delays. Really powerful tool! I used to do what you're doing and it was VERY labour intensive! Try it out next time you're doing a calibration. Yes, I appreciate this video is over 2 years old. 😂

The "LR" and "BW" designations in the crossover settings stands for "Linkwitz-Riley" and "Butterworth". Basically an "LR" filter is comprised of multiple Butterworth filters. Linkwitz-Riley crossovers are flat, whereas Butterworth filters have a 3dB bump at the crossover point.

Nice Work. Should have worked REW on your mains as well, at least to tune for delays and flatten the frequency. Then X-over with your subs and see what you got. Dont need to tune beyond 8 or 9khz. Some say dont need to tune beyond 1khz. The X-over filters you were working with were Butterworth= BW and Linkwitz Riley= LR take your pick.

Hello, Corey! I have some pair of speakers and they aren’t straight, they are as straight as a roundabout! So I wonder if I could connect these to a stereo speaker. I’m thinking to put in a stereo rca cable and then go through the miniDSP and a rca cable as output that connects to the amp, could I do that? I’m sorry if I where unclear, English isn’t my first language, what I wondered was if I could for example connect left Chanel to input 1 and then configure output 1 as output for just that Chanel so I can use a equlizer and then for example I connect the right Chanel into input 2 and then use output 2 for that Chanel and use equaliser for that speaker. (I don’t want them to interfere) Great video btw!

Hello Team, I need some help darling in my subwoofers, My question is should I add a house curve in the mini DSP and then run anthems ARC room correction or just use the mini DSP to flatten the response and then add the house curve in anthems ARC room correction? I’ve tried letting the anthem do everything but I think incorporating a miniDSP will achieve better results. I can’t move the subwoofers around my room to improve their in room response as I’m very limited with space.

Bro those delay settings are huge. I don’t know what your setup looks like but if this is the way you’re doing it, I’d try like .5 .6 .7 etc.. 9ms is like 10ft in distance. Also something small like a .2ms could be the difference between peak output and a huge dip.

Hi, Thank you for sharing, I learned a lot. So my subs are Rel 1508, and they are stacked on top of each other. So when I take individual measurements, they are almost exactly the same. And then both at same time, are just louder all around. So I guess "delay" is only for when they are on different locations? Thank you!
@coreyskinner
@coreyskinner 3 жыл бұрын
Even though they are stacked on top of each other both of there gains should be set to the same (about 50%) and make sure they are out putting the same db level before using the REW. No delay is to flatten the curve out. So at every Hz level the same level of loudness is the same. For example you here thunder at 30hz it should be at 90db and slamming a car door which is around 100db should also be at 90db and so on. Even though both of your subs are in the same place I bet if you run REW you will have a bunch of super low and super high levels. thats where you need the delay.

And since you use front corners like me, you should pick whatever corner that gives you the best bass and use it with both subs to get them properly gain matched (don't SPLE the subs where they are already. For me that is the right corner)
