you dont need one if you use a mixer that has phono or turntable inputs. It serves as the amplifier. If you do not have a mixer with phono inputs, than you do need an amplifier. You can plug in the RCAs and Ground wire the same way on an amplifier. peace

RCA to XLR is what you need depending on what type of speakers you have. The OUTPUT on the mixer in the video is RCA. My MAckie speakers want XLR cables so i had one cable that changes into the other. I suggest determining what type of cables your mixer and speakers each in going in and out and then search online for a cable that has what you need on either end
@joshuawallace49618 жыл бұрын
Please answer my questions: Do all sizes of RCA cables fit into all inputs? Also, where do I get ground cables and the proper RCA cables.
@milesbonny7 жыл бұрын
RCA cables are all the same basically. But Not every cable is an RCA. SO if your mixer has RCA outputs like in the video then you need to know what you need the cables to turn into to get into the speaker. IF the speaker is 1/4" or XLR you need a cable that will be one side RCA and one side XLR or whatever you need for your type of speaker. If you need help ask a friend or contact sweetwater.com or some music equipment website for help

I have a turntable with built in pre-amp, connected to an amplifier. The amplifier is connected to my passive speakers. Do i need to connect the mixer to active speakers (the ones with a built in amplifier), or can i also connect my mixer to my amplifier which is connected to passive speakers? Or does the mixer work as an amplifier? I can't find the answer anywhere and i fear i need to buy an additional pair of speakers (active ones), is that necessary, or can i just use my passive speakers? Thanks in advance, good video by the way!
@milesbonny4 жыл бұрын
1- If your turntable has a built in preamp - you may just be able to run it into any input, and maybe NOT the phono because it may too loud of a signal if the preamp has already been a part of the sound before it gets to the mixer's own preamp. IN other words maybe if the signal is distorted, use like a CD in or TAPE in to the receiver. 2- you can use either type of speaker. The Passive or Active Amplifier for your speakers is just about making the speakers work, it doesn't care what happened to create the initial signal ( music etc). If the speakers are playing sound, you are good to go and it is working. 3 - Im not sure what your system is doing that would make you ask these questions. Are you running into a problem? What is it?

Check connection of your Needle catridge to the turntable arm. The short cut is to unscrew your cartridge (the thing that has the needle on it that you screw into the tone arm of the turntable) and lick the contacts on the back of the cartridge so when they go into the tone arm and the hot the contacts in tone arm, they connect better. OR check your headphone connections to make sure everything is tight and working

@@HeavyMetalWarrior6 yeah I think they're amplified. Look them up online - they will say if active (are already amplified) or passive (need an amp). Its easy if you think about it in a basic way. You need to connect your speaker to the thing the sound comes from. So a cable goes from on to the other. One single mini RCA for the R (right) out from mixer to input of 1 speaker and then another single (mono) cable from the L (left) out from mixer to input of the other speaker. done

Where does the speaker are plugged?
@milesbonny4 жыл бұрын
On a DJ mixer like this one - you connect the OUTPUT of the mixer to cables that then go into the speakers (if are self-powered speakers) OR if the speakers you have are not self-powered, than you will plug the OUTPUT of the speaker to a cable that then goes into a receiver of amplifier that the speakers are connected to - inputs in the receiver or amplifier can be the cd Input or tap input or "auxiliary" input. So the answer is that it depends what type of speakers you have.

I think what you are asking is how to preview a side of music playing without it going over the speakers to audience? If so, You use a CUE function of the mixer and your headphones. You preview the side that isn't playing over the speakers in your headphones and prepare it to play over the speakers ahead of time so no one hears what you are going to play next. Does that sounds right? ON the M2 mixer it is called CUE and you use the sliding fader on the top right of the mixer to listen to one side or the other.

@TaosAlive5 жыл бұрын
If there is no ground then two things could be possible. One if you plug the white and red RCA cable into your mixer or receiver and win playing a record you do not hear a buzz and the volume is loud enough that it is OK without the ground. If there is no ground then to things could be possible. 1- if you plug the white and red RCA cable in to your mixer or receiver and when playing a record you do not hear a buzz and the volume is loud enough than it is OK without the ground. 2- Look to see if you have that little metal screw looking thing on the back where the ground would go. If you do have that then you need to use a wire to act as a ground to connect that to the mixer or receiver. If you do not have that metal ground screw in the back or a hole where it should be, then likely you do not need a ground cable.

Those are fine but you need to get a cable that will go from your mixer out to the speaker. if the speaker has both XLR and a 1/4" in you can use either to get sound into the speaker from the mixer - but you need a cable to match both the speaker and mixer - so in other words if you have a mixer like the one shown - you will need RCA to XLR or RCA to 1/4" to get the sound from mixer to speaker
