Wondering how to set up your Do-It-Yourself Voice Over Booth at home and do so at a super low cost? These are important questions from the comment section I am answering today! The best part? This will be both easy and super affordable! This will surely help start your voice over career at home!
Hey, what’s happening, welcome to Speak Easy, where my goal is to help aspiring voice over talents by sharing some tips and tricks of the trade that i have learned as a voice over for over 10 years. This is the follow up to the video i posted awhile back about being able to launch your voice over career at home . Since then, i have gotten a few questions about what they can do for a vocal booth if they don’t have a closet or a car. First of all, where do you keep your clothes? Just kidding! Anyway, i have come up with an alternative…and i promise, this will not cost you an arm and a leg. Hey, if we are meeting for the first time, I am Anna Buena, a professional freelance voice over artist for more than 10 years now. Yes, anything that will absorb the sound and keep it from bouncing off the walls.

I do not recommend that unless, of course, you can go through a script without any mistakes, with great energy and engaging all through out! Plus the level of your audio should be consistent and flawless.

Hi, Tiffany! Thank you for supporting my channel! My microphone is an older model already, it is the Samson C03u. There are so many other models that are available now. If you are looking at a USB mic, there is the Audio Technica AT2005. Its USB/XLR type, so you can start off with using it as USB muna as you learn how to use XLR mic. I believe its under P5,000. :)

Hi Anna! I'm Mark, I am an aspiring VO artist that would like to start my career and would like to make an online profile in some available platforms. Can you suggest inexpensive equipment such microphone and do you suggest using an audio interface for your recordings? Or maybe if you can make a in depth vlog about the necessary equipment that starters like me should acquire. I just stumble upon your video and they're awesome especially for beginners like me. For a USB mic, you will not need one. Its plug and play. For an XLR microphone, yes you would need one to mix the audio. :)

I had an agent who ran a studio and trained me. I also belonged to different voice over companies. And then I was on radio and events hosting that connected me to clients, as well. :)

I noticed you keep your laptop in the booth during recording sessions. Do you have any problem with the mic picking up fan noise from your laptop?

Hi David! No, I don’t. The dead side of mic is facing the side where my laptop is. I have recorded an audiobook ( about 2 hours at a time), and I have not had a problem with my mic picking up the fan. Although I actually can set my table outside and just set audacity to record. So far, I have not had to do that. I hope that helps. :)

@@lytnin88 Im in the suburbs. Also, I just stop recording when there’s loud noise coming from the outside. 😅 it gets challenging when you’re recording a long script or an audiobook. Other than that, it works pretty well for a DIY booth.

My house is closer to the main road with vehicle noise always and street dogs barking at night. Does this mean diy also won't work for me 😭😭

Yes, that may make it difficult, but not impossible. You can try recording late, late at night. OR stop every time there's noise. Those are my tips for you. :)

Like the ones gamers use?That would be challenging, as those can pick up plosives easily, because its too close to the mouth. You can test it out. See if it picks up background noise too. Good luck!
