I always set the bar too high so I can combine calf raises with squats.

The problem with that is the calves are as strong as the quads.

I'm faced with that situation at my current gym. It's either be on my tip toes to unrack it or bend over a little too much to get under to unrack. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I am an Orthopedic Surgeon. To properly set back (which will automatically set Abs after back is set ) you Must do a 1/4 of a squat when standing up to unrack bar which will set your lower back and Abs. This is especially true of low back squats. Also , by “squatting “ off the racks you head and neck position will be set. This is analogous to setting up on bench press with bar over your mouth or since I bench very low , my set up is over my neck so I only have to place bar 2-3 inches to my starting position. If I were to set up with my eyes over bar it is 6 to 8 inches over to my starting position not allowing my scapulae to retract or set my humeral heads into the glenoid fossa(shoulder joint socket). I am now 62 can bench 375-380 and full squat 485 for 3 reps . I am a former NFL running back. At 5 9 1/2 inches 215 pounds (playing weight was 233). Form must be perfect from set up to doing actual reps but is very important in lifters over 45 as our musculoskeletal system changes. For example around age 50, males can not fully supinate their hands in front of them so to avoid injury use a EZ curl bar wide grip (a straight bar would cause injury and minimal growth ). Have any questions email me OPC55@aol.com or text me 352-816-1155.

Not really, if the bar is too low it reduces your strength

@@jrippon You have to bend more to lift the weight when rack height is too low.So you're doing almost a half-ROM squat while taking the weight. But i watched your videos sir and you are great

I got injured with a "to high" set, I racked one side and not the other, and in trying to rack the side that was out I heard a pop in my shoulder, AC joint, it has improved but seems that will always have a residual instability and pain... 🤷‍♂️

@@dannyphantom1282 Ido Portal 😂 He is like the Deepak Choopra of training, some insight and a lot of bambozlee, but glad it helped you. I'm better from my shoulder is just an injury that takes time. Thanks for the recommendation.

@@digitalsublime I 100% agree w/ you on that, sometimes he talks about gymnatics rings like he found the cure for cancer haha, but seriously, that aside the shoulder mobility routine helped me out a lot. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Why didn't they demonstrate this with her inside the power rack? You should be squatting in the power rack so you can dump the bar on the lower set of pins if you get stuck...

If you didn't know you shouldn't walk the bar out on your tippy toes maybe you shouldn't be lifting or be allowed to use knives and forks

Her arms/elbows are WAY out of wack, you guys should correct it before she gets hurt (saying this on a two year old video)
