In this video, Jraegames shows you how to hook up your Playstation VR headset to your PC to play any PC game with positional tracking using your PS Move controllers! We will test this out using VR Chat on SteamVR. Imagine playing any PC VR game you want on your PSVR! Go beyond your PS4 library and play games from the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift libraries as well as non-VR games.
This is a 100% working way to do it and takes very little time or effort to get up and running. This is an absolutely excellent alternative to the more expensive HTC Vive and Oculus headsets. Hope you enjoy!

@@sinistergalaxy3012 it did but not perfectly, i think it's because my PC insn't very performant but it did work, 4 cameras did the trick, just make sure you never move them, if i had a better pc it would have worked for sure

Now would it be possible to put USB extenders on the cameras, then put one on one side of your room in the one on the other side facing down towards you? Kind of like doing the whole tricking the 2 Oculus sensors trick for the 360? 🤔 if angled correctly then it'll be able to see both lights on the controllers?

I noticed on PS Move controller, the one used for primary movement, will not engage the trigger at all, I've tested the controller and all inputs work yet while playing the one trigger never engages

Trackers are your cameras... not your controllers.

First of all I want to thank you for the time you put into making this useful guides, I didn't know all of this was possible! I just have one problem: with the latest Steam update it's impossible to use your steamvr file for the custom controls, so I've tried to edit the .json files generated by the new PSMove Bridge version. The problem is that setting it "read only" makes SteamVR go into Safe Mode, and nothing works anymore. So I've tried to go into SteamVR settings to make my own personal bindings tied to VRChat, and it seems to work, but there is a bunch of different names of triggers, axys and buttons that I can't figure out. For some reason I can't find the right ones to do the basic things like move up, down, right, left and activate/deactivate the mic. The default way of moving the avatar (pressing the center button and moving the Psmove in the direction you want to go) is awful, unreliable and makes me sick because it's too fast! What should I do? Thank you

Ok I found the solution, I'll write it down in case someone else needs it. You have to create action aliases and set them properly in the panel that lets you adjust per-game bindings on Steam. Everytime I try to install the steamvr drivers with the initial setup it says this "Found SteamVR Runtime Dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR" 'SteamVR_ReinstallDriverWin64.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I have SteamVR already downloaded. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Interesting... I am not sure how the Vive player would be able to do that since the amount of buttons on the Vive controllers is the same. You can point and grab using the trigger button on the PS Move and drop using the Select key. I will see if I can find more info on that... thanks for watching!

What's the optimal amount of cameras to use? Would it be significantly better to use 3 or 4 rather than just 2?

Depends on whether you are playing seated or positional. When you are playing seated games you can just use two. If you are playing room-scale games then you need 3 or 4 optimally.

@@satellite964 PS4 Camera tracks the colors. I'm not sure but on software side it's more likely to be a hybrid tracking method with gyros and blue LED light tracking rather than a homemade picture processing. The way i think it works is like color masking the LEDs on the headset and the moves. Create 2 pictures process them and try to decide what has changed in the area. That's why gyros handy because you'll know immediately what changed and when including the 2 main cordinates. Sony does that (including graphics and sounds) with 16ms input latency wich is quite good for an almost 2TFLOP hardware. On PC there is a service for the moves another service for the headset and the SOC and so on. It's not one api.

Hey mate great tutorial but I couldn’t get my controllers to connect but after hours of trying I was able to get one controller working but by leaving the cable in during pairing but couldn’t get second one connected. After more hours of frustration I removed the only paired device I had and now I can’t get any connected. I’ve reset them and removed drivers but can’t get anything to work ... any advice anyone please

Hmmm... are you inputting 30 for frame rate and 640 for size? Unfortunately, the software was made for the PS3 cameras specifically.

So I've gotten everything ready go, and done a couple of tries in VRChat. Though I had troubles on finding a way to have my avatar turn to which direction I want to face until I found out that the oval shape button on my right PS move controller is mapped for turning. Then in a weird way I had to wave the PS move controller either left or right which gives me the direction I want to turn. Is there a way to map the turning to the cross button because for me the cross button not mapped to anything? For example having the left PS move controller's cross button for left turning then vice versa? (Also I want to mention for hand gestures, my square button is mapped to open hands/release then the triggers are the fist/grab. How to map the other hand gestures like the pointing finger etc?) Any suggestion from anyone are much appreciated....

Yeah the mapping is pretty strange by default. I suggest customizing your steamvr.vrsettings file to add custom mapping. github.com/cboulay/PSMoveService/issues/513

Do you know if you can use the psvr mic? It’s weird only because I had trinus running and everything and went into vrchat and people could hear me crystal clear, I knew it wasn’t using my pc mic because it’s across the room and it would sound echoey. But then I went in again and the mic wasn’t working

Just came across these vids.... Awesome job. I was going to try all these setups, both the PSVR, and PS MOVE with camera. I do have a couple questions. #1 At this date is there any support for PS4 Camera's. I do have 1 PS3 camera but thought if the option was available I would use both. #2 I watched your vid on Steam DCS and flight simulation. Does the PSVR headset also work as IR Tracking. It seemed as though it was however I noticed a small ball object placed on top of your PSVR headset. Was not sure what that was. You mentioned the Gyro within the PSVR headset. Is that what is making the headset work as IR Tracking. I want to be sure as I would like the function of IR Tracking to work allowing me to for instance to look closer at a cockpit console for control switches when starting up a plane. Cheers!

PS4 cameras use a proprietary connector that doesn't work on the pc without modding. The gyro controls the rotational tracking and the ball controlled the positional. Watch my newer videos for an easier setup for positional tracking.

I managed to pair and track the first controller but when I try to pair my second one it just stays stuck at step 3/7 and never finishes the pairing :/

This isnt about vr chat but im saving for a htc vive and was gonna put my psvr on my pc while i wait but before i do you know if i can use the playstation move controllers on hot dogs horseshoes and hand grenades?

I can't see why not... it works on pretty much ever game that requires motion controllers.

Hmmmm... just make sure that when you calibrate it in Trinus it is resting on a level surface.

I would give approximately 4 feet between cameras.

Hello! i paired one of my controllers but when i try to repeat the process on the other one doesnt work the moveservice.exe gives this error: "AsyncBluetoothPairDeviceRequest - No Bluetooth device found matching the given address: e0:ae:5e:4c:e6:9f" both controllers are the old ones. Do you know what happened?

I mean I guess it’s a cool concept and I actually did this on my laptop but it wasn’t so good tbh and I’d rather buy a vr valve set then fail and try and repeating the process with this method if it was very way as plug and play than id think about it

Hey! I have a huge problem. My PS3 cam doesn't seem to work. I did try USB 2 and 3. Still no luck. I did install the driver as you showed. But camera test doesn't work at all, and PSMOVE Service gives me the error that it didn't find the camera. I did restart my pc, and i did try to reinstall driver... no luck...

Did you find them in Zadig? Did you install the proper driver? Check your Device Manager and see if they are showing up there.

Yes. The camera was found and I installed the right driver. But the camera was saying (Interface 1 not 0) as in your video. Yes it is showing in device manager under libusb 32 folder

@JRaeGames hey i noticed you can make your phone a webcam for pc. i was wondering if there is a way to use my phone as a camera i tried and it shows my phone video but when i go to test the cameras only my single ps3 eye shows up its like its not recognizing my phone as a camera.

hmmmm... I think the software only looks for the PS3 Eye cameras.
