great video, I understand this video very well coming from an the associated to the mp10. The kyosho works for my driving style which is more based on finding grip throughout most of the turn, not so much sliding. There needs to be a follow up to this after Reno does some testing.

Great job JQ and Savoya 👍 I think this tech videos/interviews are a win win for the content producer, the rc community and the rc brand represented by Pro Drivers. Too bad for who is missing intentionally this interesting opportunity of collaboration.

Very interesting video! What was missing in this analysis is the interaction of steer angles of the negative and positive scrub radius. This effects the "jacking". With positive scrub, the jacking makes the inside (read unloaded) contact patch move in z direction, down. The opposite applies to the outside, loaded wheel. This in turn creates a geometric "pro" roll effect in the front axle, which is carried across all contact patches. This in turn creates a greater delta of load on the rear axle from side to side, depending on the roll stiffness. Now with negative scrub, this effect will be reduced or in extreme setups even the opposite. This effects what will happen with the load transfer across the rear tyres. But all these effects are amplified or reduced with higher or lower roll stiffness from both the springs and ARBs. This effect as described above is strongest in maximum steer angle (read mid corner), but will to a lesser degree effect the entry and exit while having lock on the steering. Overall the video is a nice summary, keep them coming!

The amazing thing about people with ego issues that they can be fired from their own racing team but still have the balls to tell a racer with a job how to drive and how they can improve. If this individual took his own advise he might still have a job. It’s overwhelming how ego can blind people to the point that this video exists.

Agreed with the comments here that there's more info in this video than any amount of setup books out there. Always had a dream to create a pillow ball car with more inward shocks to straighten that fulcrum it has, especially on exit. I feel you can afford to gain some front grip coming out of a corner and be able to wind a little extra negative toe on the rear tyres. Just a pipe dream I guess 😅😅

I found this theory on how pivot ball and c hub cars differ and which way the front wheels try to turn when you accelerate and brake depending on the offset of the scrub radius very interesting. This got me thinking could you do a video proveing this theory by simply disconnecting the track rods and driving the car in a straight line then braking. Very curious to see the results

If I understand the pivot ball car needs rear end set in a different way than a C-hub car. And vice versa. But looking at basic setup sheets, Xray has 2019 xb8e buggy with the same rear end setup for both pivot ball and c-hub front end. Do you have any comments on this? Because (unfortunatley) I've got an xb8e buggy with only C-hubs. Any idea what settings could I try to modify? Thanks

I’m electric and not nitro so technique is a tiny bit different…. I LOVE to be able to drift… IMO it gives me a little bit more time to position my car or make corrections while I’m in the actual drift. Just a little throttle or less throttle, more or less steer… while in the actual drift, your movements are a little more forgiving. You may loose time while in the drift but… we also loose time turning early with too much grip and having to re-correct can be more fatal bcs you could end up in an unpredictable place… but a drift.. once your in the drift zone it’s more forgiving… IMO…

Being that I have an MP10 and MP10e, this video was freakin' awesome! I need to try to understand the longer rear arm vs. inward rear hub thing vs. thin hex. Savoya is also running a long servo horn, so this may be making the steering too quick causing too much rotation earlier. Just my own village idiot 2 cents.

2:00:05 - I'd like to hear back from Savoya if he tried the piston combos. I have yet to see a pro setup sheet reference anything other than the seemingly de facto standard of 8x1.2mm + 8x1.3mm. Also, I am curious to know why Reno says that 5x1.5mm is "never fast." Is it because of less pack, so he needs to wait on the car to rebound after landing or something before laying on the the throttle? Furthermore, Kyosho chose to put the 5x1.5mm pistons in the ebuggy only (MP9e & MP10e), as the default, for some reason. I'd like to try to understand why that decision was made by Kanai. IDK, all this shit is so confusing...

Is Savoya running Kyosho now then? I watched a bunch of 2020 stuff, I don't think I saw a single one being run. Sorry, new to watching RC on TV. I have a question, if Kyosho is such a good buggy - what has happened to it past 10 years? I see less and less people racing with Kyosho, yet people still insist it's a good brand. Even long-term Kyosho racers have dumped the brand for others, so if they are so good - where are they? I have 2 old 7.5 platform cars, trying to decide where my next upgrade lies as I move towards racer.
