This is so helpful! I'm so excited to get my first iOS device even though it's an old model which is an iPhone XR (CPO) after my budget, the features, and considering the Apple Device's longevity, durability, and performance, I decided to go with the device since I am not that of tech geek and heavy user.

So ive never had a iphone of any soft before and i may be getting one soon, i dont use data or pay for it so i dont have an active phone number, do i have to have a phone number to set up an iphone? If you have any help on this question i appreciate it

I don't know if this is still true, but from what I recall, you need to insert a valid SIM card into the phone during the initial setup. It doesn't need to have service. If you buy a locked iPhone from a cell carrier, say T-Mobile, it will require a T-Mobile SIM. But if you buy an unlocked phone, any SIM will work. Its possible this is no longer the case, but I'm pretty sure that's still a requirement.

If you're talking about the built in Messages app, you can't call through Messages. You can send voice messages though. You can call people through FaceTime audio provided they use Apple devices.

You can skip the wifi selection screen. I think it will try to convince you to connect to wifi, but you can skip it.

Hi! It depends on how much your willing to pay/spend. I had a budget of 370$ as a teen using her first paycheck for a phone. I'm not 18 so most places aren't willing to sell me a phone but i looked around my area and online for cheap iphones and ended up buying and iphone 11 pro ( silver, 64 gbs ) on amazon renewed for 252$ and having 100 left and it works just like any other phone so it just depends :)
