Do i have to disconnect the device from computer A before i can use it on computer B? Or would the device automatically disconnect from computer A when i start using it on computer B? We got this label writer at work, but it's only USB. Would be cool if my co-worker and i could connect to it this way, but it's not ideal if the person who was connected last would have to disconnect first. While $50 is alright, a new label writer with network capabilites isn't that much more expensive...

Very good tutorial. Well-explained. Alas, likely not the solution to my problem. Trying to share a webcam between my company laptop and home desktop. Can use the USB port on the router but that leaves the cam upstairs and both computers downstairs. Tried to use software. But when my office machine saw I was trying to download an executable file, I got a big middle finger. If it comes down to it it may require a hardware solution, which is fine because both machines are close to each other. Of course that won't be cheap. : (

yes, it is powerful software.......... ......a good use for VIRTUALHERE is to SHARE your physical USB SOUNDCARD which is plugged into your windows Laptop with any "windows based VM" that you launch inside HYPER V on that same Laptop. (or launched on any network connected physical Laptop or VM) (Normally, launching any "windows based VM" using HYPER V on windows OS......it won't allow SOUND support .......(sound is NOT natively supported in HYPER V vm's......) VirtualHERE gets around that SOUND problem.
@amb9800
@amb9800 3 жыл бұрын
If you're using Remote Desktop, that's able to route audio natively from a Hyper-V VM, but for other ways of accessing a VM, VB-Cable is another option (vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm) - it creates a virtual audio interface on the VM, which can then be routed by your remote desktop software.
@breevwhyman2985
@breevwhyman2985 3 жыл бұрын
@@amb9800 i tried RDesktop for AUDIO on HYPER V vm's.......... but it did not work in win 10 64 bit. In other words, it does not work. It is quite complicated with lots of settings dependant upon each other. People have a terrible time trying to get audio to work, but failing. It's incomprehensible that it's such a ball ache and incomprehensible how MSoft & HYPER V overlooked audio? I believe RDP and HYPER V audio only works with certain versions of windows and if your lucky .....say windows server.......... So you are saying even with VB-cable, you still need to be using RDP with your HYPER V vm sessions? Does "VB-cable" run under WINE on Linux?.....since as far as i remember HYPER V vm's of any LINUX flavor ......they also don't natively allow audio passthrough in HYPER V vm's on windows.
@sChutt_
@sChutt_ 3 жыл бұрын
@@breevwhyman2985 - So if it doesn't work for you, it simply does not work? I'm running dozens of VDI's and terminal servers on Hyper-V clusters. As does the rest of the world. With sound. I guess I'm cheating... RDP into a Hyper-V VM supports sound out of the box. I do mean RDP (mstsc.exe), not the virtual console on Hyper-V manager.

Ugh, if only the usbip driver for Windows was signed, I'd use it with no hesitation. Does running with driver signature enforcement off a viable option for someone who plays games that use VAC or similar anticheat? Linux doesn't require signed drivers right, so it seems the only other downside is allowing a root kit to be installed accidently, which would be unlikely for a reasonably cautious user. I see a bunch of services for getting a Windows driver signing certificate that charge a yearly fee. The does that mean if VirtualHERE stops paying, the driver will retroactively no longer load?
