Thanks Greg. This is really handy. Can you please advise regarding the location of the saved file though? I'd like to save images to my CC, Dropbox or OneDrive and share from there using a mobile or tablet. With all of these you need to save it to your device first and then share to the app. Won't that ruin the quality? Also, it takes up space on the device (although I guess you just need to delete once shared). What do you suggest?

Thanks Greg! I’ve already installed the script and I think is awesome and very easy and fast to use it! A question comes up, the file you sharpen and export for the web is already sharpened with other method? I guess that it’s but just to be sure. Thanks!

Another great video Greg. Many thanks for sharing the script as well. Much appreciated. Have been watching lots of your videos recently and they are all excellent and very helpful for people like me who have limited knowledge of Photoshop. My only request would be, if possible, to go through the steps a bit more slowly so viewers with limited experience, like me, can keep up. ALL Photoshop/Lightroom etc teachers seem to put soooooo much emphasis on doing things quickly but miss the objective of the videos i.e. teaching! I fully appreciate you want to keep your viewers engaged as well. I would rather learn slowly as once the techniques/steps are clearly and fully understood, speed will automatically follow when applied in personal use. May I ask, which lens did you use for this image as IQ is amazing? Thanks again for all your wonderful videos and tips.

Thanks Greg. I haven't been happy with the sharpening of my photos when I put them on my blog so this is fantastic. I don't always go into Photoshop for all my photos and always export from Lightroom in bulk as they are usually a holiday. Is there any way to do a batch to sharpen a number of photos? I was thinking I could export the photos as high res jpegs from Lightroom and then sharpen them all at once, but I this script doesn't come up in the batch settings. Any ideas?
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 4 жыл бұрын
The script doesn’t do batch, but it remembers last settings and if you set a shortcut can easily rip through a bunch of photos quickly.

Really cool script, Greg! Perhaps it could leverage JpegMini for compression in the future for those who have that plugin installed. For now I'll just use 100% ultimate quality and run the images through JpegMini as a further step.
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon- I considered that. However, they don’t provide open support for automation of their installed plugin (they have an API, but it would charge me anytime someone used it). If you want to do that, I’d recommend just running their utility after creating the JPG. -Greg
@jongrall
@jongrall 4 жыл бұрын
Greg Benz thanks, Greg! It seems like you were already ahead of the curve on that one. Bummer that JpegMini doesn’t have an API that you can call for free. Silly really since the customer already paid.

Question: Do you recommend converting the image to 16 Bits before running the script? Thanks
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 3 жыл бұрын
No real value in doing that right before sharpening. However, I would do all the previous work in 16-bits. I only ever use 8-bits for final output, sharpening for web being one of those point where I discard some bits.

Hey Greg, thanks, really! Just one question, nothing really happens when I hold the shift, option or command key while pressing the sharpen button. I would love to mask out some areas but it doesn't work for me, it just keeps exporting to the chosen folder and closes the sharpened image. Do you know why this is not working? Thanks!!
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 4 жыл бұрын
Each key has a different function (per the tooltip). Haven’t heard anything about them not working and the mechanism there is very standard. Would have to see it love to really say.
@saraalle
@saraalle 4 жыл бұрын
@@gregbenzphotography Thank you for answering. It really doesn't work for me, but what if I save the image in full size, can I then open it as a layer on top of the original file and mask on that layer or do I lose quality that way?

You mean metadata or a watermark? If metadata, just set it up in LR and it will be there for this script when you use it. A watermark is out of scope at this time.

I regularly post on a camera forum. Their forum software somehow mangles jpegs - regardless of how I downsize, type of sharpness, amount of compression etc. They look fine on my screen, but once uploaded have blocky, noisy shadows. Yours don't. Thank you very much.

Very nice script and video. But there's still no complete control of what the viewer sees due to differences in monitors, etc. And I'm not expecting that from your script, either. For example, I've noticed that an image viewed on my 5k Retina iMac (5120x2880 pix) looks much sharper than the same image viewed on an NEC PA272W (1920x1080 pix), which has a lesser screen resolution. Just pointing out an issue when viewing images distributed on the internet that photographers should be aware of ...
@gregbenzphotography
@gregbenzphotography 4 жыл бұрын
Of course, but there no way to control that. This is the best approach for the mess we call the web.

Can you Batch sharpen and resize photos for the web with this Script? 🤔🤓😏

It doesn’t process batches, but you can easily convert all the files you open by assigning a short key key to the script and running it multiple times (it automatically applies the last setting used until you change them).
