Thank for this! I am a retired violist who has taken playing 1st violin in the community orchestra. I was in a conundrum about how to play in the nosebleeds without discomfort and you nailed it!

Hi Eyal! This is Rob Mancuso from West Virginia (we connected last year via Zoom regarding vibrato and other more basic issues of mine). Today's video here is AWESOME and CLEAR in your demos and pointers!!!! This will DEFINITELY help me with my pain and flexibility issues when shifting to higher positions! I have been getting physical therapy 3x per week for over 2 months now from neck degeneration and pain issues (not caused by violin, yet somewhat aggrivated by it). From the therapy I now I have greater neck range of motion and flexibility and less pain! This should help my playing become much more enjoyable as compared to the past. I will continue doing the proper stretches and exercises to maintain neck and arm flexibility and strength for the rest of my life (which is fine) to overcome the effects of the herniated discs, stenosis, and arthritis in my neck vertebrae (August 2021 I reached 70 yrs of age...ugh!). Anyway, I cannot thank you enough and I hope to connect with you again! You are an AWESOME, KIND, PRACTICAL, CLEAR, ARTICULATE, and PATIENT teacher!!! God bless you, and good healrh to you and your family from me here in the US! Take care friend!

I like to practice Glissing to the second octave of each string with the natural harmonic BUT without using my thumb at all to test if my whole posture is relaxed and proper and the I add the thumb back. Thanks for your tips!
