Useful. The gallery director at my college gave a presentation to my museum studies class during which he talked about shipping paintings from the gallery's perspective, so it's interesting to hear an artist's perspective on the same process.

It's really cool to see the care and effort that goes into shipping your paintings! That second method is definitely secure. I've never seen a damaged canvas come in (and that plastic sleeve really hugs it well for protection!).

It's so nice to see you do this. Im getting ready to start selling art myself and it's nice to see what goes into keeping it safe in the mail. I hope one day to be as successful as you mal, you are my inspiration to paint and to open shop. You've given me confidence to try to sell my artwork.

I'm really glad you did this. I'm learning to paint because of you so this year I sent off a couple paintings as a Christmas gift and I didn't wrap it correctly. Some of the clear coat on the top wore a bit but otherwise it survived. I'll definitely keep this in mind for next time.

Wow, what a great first tutorial video! I knew that shipping a painting took a lot of time but I never knew how complicated it was. Props to you for shipping all of those paintings! Also, I adore all the music you used in this video. Funnily enough, I was actually listening to Carlo's Lo-fi Animal Crossing song right before I clicked on this video! Oh and one more thing! I don't know if it's new or I'm just realizing it but I ADORE the endscreen! It's really well designed and cute ^^

Maybe do a vid on how to clean paintings, and posters? I have accidentally destroyed a painting by using straight up water on a towel, dried it out then took it directly across dabbing and the paint still came off lol my luck. Or maybe a painting care vid like how often you recommend cleaning and what to look for from painting cleaners

I haven't tried it so I'm not sure how it would react with acrylic or varnish - Lately I've been using glassine and it works great!
@izaaksalazar63015 жыл бұрын
Does your instructions only apply to non-framed paintings? I would love to send my grandma a framed painting of her childhood home.
@MalMakes5 жыл бұрын
Either of these methods would work for a framed piece! If it has glass, be extra careful. For example, possibly using cardboard to sit across the front of the glass and maybe use painter's tape to tape across the surface. If the glass were to break, the tape would hold all the pieces. You could also replace the glass with plastic, just don't let either sit directly on the painting.

How much do you pay for a painting like 36"x36"?
@MalMakes5 жыл бұрын
I've never shipped a painting that big and the boxes I use only go up to 32x44. All the shipping companies can give you an estimate on cost if you bring stuff in or fill it out on their websites. Hope that helps!
@PhoenixGirl15 жыл бұрын
Shipping a painting is way more complicated then I originally thought it would be. Wow, and you do this for every painting that’s been bought. Is the priority mail box available in all countries? Or is it just for U.S?
@MalMakes5 жыл бұрын
It's a box from the US postal service (USPS) and your country might have a similar service?

Will the silhouette prints go on your red bubble as well?
@crotnem5 жыл бұрын
I usually paint on 16 X 20 canvas. Do you have a rough idea of cost for that size. How do you tell you client what shipping will w/out doing one up?
@MalMakes5 жыл бұрын
I would suggest packaging one up (you don't have to seal it) and getting quote from fedex for a couple locations (one as far as you can go continental US and one a bit closer) to give you a good estimate. You cost will be different based on where you live. I live on the east coast so the further west it goes it gets pricier. If I lived in the plains/midwest, it would be cheaper because I'd be more central.
