We share how we got parts shipped to the Bahamas. After we break a steering cable, we had to have parts flown into Great Harbour Cay. Great harbor is nice. You can sail the shallow water routes on the other side of the island… our friends on aly cat were there a few weeks ago.

We did the shallows first the this year. We met Kimberly at the Chil-n-Grill, nice lady.

Saw her yesterday! She was off to a book activity. Incidentally I’m in her book! We’ve been sanding the hulls here down to the gelcoat on the bottom. Paint failed after 20 years and is chipped and pitted 50 layers deep.

It really isn't complicated to get things into The Bahamas. Each major Island has a number of expeditors with Florida addresses to ship your parts through. Abaco has at least five, plus DHL. THe typical process on any Island is to ask around for whomever services that island. You have your shipment sent to the Florida address, the brokerage handles all of the paperwork. On a more remote island, you can work through the mailboat that services that island. I have been told that everything is dutied, except for motor parts. 12% duty plus air shipment and handling fee. Heavy parts or volotile products can be brought over as sea cargo by the brokers. In Abaco, the system is slick and problem free.
