At almost $1,300.00 a month or over $40.00 a day when you anchored almost every day. The Bahamas have become the most expensive cruising grounds in the World. If you used moorings instead of your anchor, that price would have doubled. Cruising on your own sailboat at $100.00 per day is just crazy. $36,500.00 a year as a live-a board is just nuts. Bahamas government/environmentalists gouging and it's the locals that are losing. Sailors are staying away in droves.
@svthecrookedanchor
@svthecrookedanchor 10 күн бұрын
I think you accidentally took our budget doubled it and add 20% to get $36,500.00 a year.
@pubu2010
@pubu2010 10 күн бұрын
@@svthecrookedanchor If you add the $30 to $$40 a night for the often unsafe and mandatory moorings, another $20 to $30 a night for anchoring in popular places now, and add the huge taxes imposed, I am very low in my estimate. I've been going to the Bahamas for over 15 years now and the costs have skyrocketed insanely. Sadly almost all those increases are going to the Conservationists and the Government. The people of the Bahamas are just getting screwed because fewer and fewer real cruisers like you are going there every year. I used to spend a lot in the Bahamas every year, but it all went to the people and business of the Bahamas. Not any more. So sad.

Welcome from the Beach, in the video you stated that your changed the steering cables 4 years earlier; what happened, bad cables or they just don't last very long? If looking at an older Gemini should one be cautious of cables which might be older than 4 or 5 years old?
@svthecrookedanchor
@svthecrookedanchor 10 күн бұрын
I believe it's a bad design, the cables come out of the transom angled upwards, Allowing water to enter them, they have a rubber seal on them that isn't water tight. Water splash on the while underway.
