Today, you're going to learn how to shoot a gun in low light. Shooting a gun in low light conditions is important because bad guys come out at night. Watch this FBI drill to practice shooting with a tactical flashlight in your hand. Carry a flashlight at all times so you can blind the perp while engaging in the gunfight. The FBI designed this drill to practice shining light from a higher angle to increase the chance of the criminal shooting at the light, away from you. This drill will make you shoot one-handed and unsupported so make note that it could reduce accuracy. Watch this video to learn gun shooting tips for low light settings!
The tactical flashlight is available here: www.usconcealedcarry.com/offe...

I was told by an actual former FBI agent that the original technique was developed before there there was flashlights and they used lanterns. Holding it up and out of the vision of the agent to avoid being blinded by their own lanterns.

Most bad guys miss their target when shooting at someone, so the best place to hold it is in front of you. Having the light and weapon together makes for a more accurate shooting platform.

I like the video. It would be interesting if you could film this down range on a tripod between targets so we could see what I hear targets (bad guys) see. I get great information from your videos as well as your magazines. I am very impressed what USCCA offers and the information you provide. Keep doing a great job. Thank you for your time as well as the service you provide. Very Valuable

Great tips, but I, and am sure others, would've liked to see the shots on the targets,

does the accuracy drop not having two hands on the weapon? I was hoping You covered your thoughts on that.

I have practiced this method of night shooting. for me it is good as I can also see the sights better. crossing arms I cannot see my sights nearly as well. as with anything-practice.

Great video! It probably doesn't need to be said to those who KNOW the USCCA practices safety #1 but the camera downrange was unmanned/remote controlled. And also, if you take the USCCA CCW class or buy the USCCA book Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals- you'll learn two other very practical tactical flashlight holds which offer different advantages.

Or.. just rock a weapon mounted light and shoot the target before they get a chance to shoot you. The element of surprise is more valuable IMO.

So lets say you hear something behind you. You swing around draw and turn on your weapon light. Turns out its not a threat and you just committed a crime. Whereas is you do that with a handheld its not a big deal.

The FBI originated from the days when people carried lanterns, it’s useless nowadays and it’s a dumb place to hold the light because it doesn’t allow you use your off hand to support your firearm giving you better accuracy

did you not hear the part where the bad guy is going to shoot at the light and that is why you don't want the light in line with your body? but go ahead and hold it how ever you want.
@muddog1561

Holding the light like that is counter intuitive, it would be hard to get the light on target. Even with practice. Also it won't work in different shooting positions.
