Handle that work Bossman. I was thinking it was gonna be hard to keep that aluminum rod in place to protect those wires. Good you didn't use that jig saw. I saw you an Fraz got it done though. Good look Fo Sho.

Hello from Romania! I've shortened my shaft also, but (initially) I didn't shorten the cable and at first test on the river, my motor lost his mind... Lika a crazy horse left, tight... Things that never happen before the shortening. Then I hear/found the fact that the cables must be shortened too. (not to be wrapped around the Compas /gos inside the cover cap) Later I do that and the motorworks well.

Something tells me you're going to have the same experience I had doing what you're doing now. I had to cut mine twice as it was too long on the first shot of course I didn't realize it until I got the yak in the water. Problem one was it was interfering with my rod and fish control. Second in was causing too much unnecessary drag. The goal is to have it deep enough to prevent prop cavitation yet not so deep that it drags! Nothing like living it to knowing it! Great vids though👍

Those little vampires can ruin a good day and make a bad day worse. I admire your patience , most would have snapped the excess length off. I know this may sound like a Monday morning QB, but could you just slide a section of shrink tubing to the nick and use some heat to seal it? Either way solid repair and modification.

Boss man you should have put the heat shrink on it and called it done. You didn't need to cut that again. Plus you could have pulled the wires through the end of the shaft before cutting. But good job you got it done.

Bossman, Very Good content ! If the insulation was chaffed or tore, use shrink wrap in that area. You didnt need to break the wire and put in a wire connector. Thats another place where a short could happen area.

Boss Man cut side on hogs bacon put square box fill salt cover meat salt for 4 days Wash salt off dry meat towel. Place smoker 6 days smoke hickey wood. 6 day give good smoky bacon slice up.wildhog bacon best

Instead of using the metal rod you could just push the wires up into the shaft so they bunch up in the shaft that way if you knocked the wires you would have plenty of wire in the shaft to pull back out to hook the connections onto them just cut them to length

If you didn't want to cut it any farther you could have cut the connector off the the top end and slid you some heat shrink over that nick and heated it. Wowlla!

Wires tube must cut off slide wire in small diameter pipe keep cutting wires cut bit in small pipe wire untouched

did you have any issues with GPS or spot lock after cutting down the shaft? how is the motor performing today? I'm about to pull a trigger on a new terrova the 45 inch one .. any performance update you can share after all this time you been using it?

@@changeaddresses402 Yes sir, they make them already cut 36” for kayaks for freshwater, not saltwater. So if you want a saltwater trolling motor. You have to cut it yourself because they haven’t came out with a saltwater version for kayak’s yet.

They don’t make a saltwater trolling motor for kayaks with the 36” shaft, only freshwater. So you have to buy a saltwater trolling motor and cut the shaft. But that is true I was lucky because all trolling motors are on back order til 2023. You will be lucky if you find one.

That wire protector does not protect theem unless you move it around to seperate the saw blade from hitting the wires I had to close my eyes, then I closed my eyes agaim expecting you to draw blood with that knife, then I closed my eyes again when you started that lighter with the solder, not necessary with a Buse connector if anything I would of used a non insulated connector and a heat shrink cover, then I closed my eyes again when you started drilling the shaft with your hand as a support directly in front of the drill bit, the bits will drill holes in flesh as well as metal, wood and plastics
