I purchased Rocket Spanish and was using it daily and then stopped. I need to get back at it. It has all four parts - listening, speaking, writing, and reading and is built to be bite sized lessons that can be done daily. I have had Destinos bookmarked forever - years - but have yet to watch it. Ugh. I'm so bad with consistency. I need start using these daily.

Sister Ray, It looks like Spanish is the easiest language to learn but my brain can't think fast enough to catch the phrases of the native Spanish speaker. When they speak Spanish, most speak it fast and I can't catch up with them. Aye Caramba 😩

Don't despair! It's not easy, but with a solid routine and consistency, understanding will come. Here's a video I did about how to understand fast spoken Spanish. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7Omd9ii3LnDdJs.html It's in Spanish, so if you need, feel free to turn on the subtitles. They are available in both English and Spanish.

@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 жыл бұрын

Question: I subscribed to your channel yesterday & a Spanish infomercial popped up before your video started. I've been clicking on all your videos now to try and get more details from the infomercial. It's about a minute and a half long clip of a guy offering spanish lessons. Do you have the link? At this point, all I can remember is that a guy was talking about Spanish and that I really liked his style. But i didn't click on it because I wanted to watch your video first. Now, no matter what spanish video i click on, the infomercial does not pop up again.

@@EricaRayLanguage I believe my consistency. I would get really determined in my language learning than frustrating will kick in from not understanding anything.
@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 жыл бұрын
I understand your frustration. So besides the listening and reading that I'm assuming that you're doing (and, by the way, it's OK if you can't understand everything as long as you can follow along with the idea), are you using any kind of step-by-step course to give you some structure and explanations to make you feel a bit more secure in your learning? A lot of learners feel best including a step-by-step resource in their routine. Do you have one? I know you mentioned Olly Richards, but I wasn't sure if it was his reading books or his course that you have.
@eastern7103
@eastern7103 2 жыл бұрын
@@EricaRayLanguage I am actually using Olly Richard Spanish uncovered which I absolutely love. I also purchased assimil the super pack. I honestly have no proper structure and there's times my consistency completely goes away. These are my biggest issues because both programs are great however I think in getting frustrated because when I practice with my partner which is Mexican I don't remember anything 😔 I also have one of his books 📚
@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 жыл бұрын
@Keith You do have some great structured resources there! So sounds like it's mainly the structure in your actual routine that is lacking. You sound like a perfect candidate to go through the exact steps that I describe in this video. Both Spanish Uncovered and Assimil are great programs. My advice would be to choose one of them to start Step 1 and then walk through the remaining steps. As far as not remembering when it's time to speak, I totally get it. When we're starting, it's often helpful to add some structure to those speaking sessions as well by setting specific speaking goals in order to avoid frustration until we reach more proficiency. Have you watched my free masterclass yet? If not, you can register at ericaraylanguage.com/masterclass I talk about how to do all of this in much greater detail. Best!

I really like what you're doing with the reading and listening and reviewing the unfamiliar words! It sounds like you actually haven't been doing that for too long (because I'm not going to count the time with Duolingo) ☺️ So keeping up with that and adding in some writing sounds like a great plan.
