"BATTLE BELONGS" LYRICS
----------
Written by Brian Johnson, Phil Wickham
VERSE 1
When all I see is the battle
You see my victory
When all I see is the mountain
You see a mountain moved
And as I walk through the shadow
Your love surrounds me
There’s nothing to fear now
For I am safe with You
CHORUS
So when I fight
I’ll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God the battle
Belongs to You
And every fear
I lay at Your feet
I’ll sing through the night
Oh God the battle belongs to You
VERSE 2
And if You are for me
Who can be against me
For Jesus there’s nothing
Impossible for You
When all I see are the ashes
You see the beauty
When all I see is a cross
God You see the empty tomb
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Almighty Fortress
You go before us
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God
You shine in the shadow
You win every battle
Nothing can stand against
The power of our God

I'm so glad I found you!!🙏 You've helped me tremendously! I've always found it so hard to find someone who I sound like and was really starting to loose confidence in my unique sound. That was untill I first heard you..I was blown away with all the similarities in our voices! Its been so helpful practicing with you and finding my perfect keys for worship team. I let my husband listened to you last night, but didn't tell him I think we sing alike, he's very honest to say the least, but the first thing he said was, "you guys have the same singing voice!!" I almost cried!❤ I'm working on perfecting my pitch and getting to those high notes like you have perfected. Thank you so much for all your help!💛 You are a gamechanger!!

Great tutorial! Quick question: For songs of this kind of range, what do you recommend for a congregationally friendly vocal range that will allow most people to sing along and also enjoy the dynamic journey from the low to high range without having to artificially jump back and forth between octaves?
@worshipvocalist
@worshipvocalist Жыл бұрын
Hi Brad! I think that there’s no key that will be best for everyone - so the worship leader should choose what works well for them to lead confidently, and then the congregation can sing in whichever octave feels best!
@dudabradc
@dudabradc Жыл бұрын
@@worshipvocalist So, you say at about 3:50 not to raise the verse (essentially sing the song in one octave) because then it will lack dynamics, which I totally get. But, isn't this precisely what we're asking of the congregation ("the congregation can sing in whatever octave feels best")? So, are we not robbing the congregation of the very dynamic journey that is essential to the song? Why would we do this to the congregation? Sidebar: Charmaine, I know this isn't your responsibility. You're just trying to teach the vocals, and you do so wonderfully! You are a great resource to worship leaders! But I just can't wrap my head around congregational singing where the worship leaders get to enjoy the fullness of the song (if they have the chops, which isn't a guarantee especially in smaller churches), but the congregation is asked to compromise. They don't get to experience the full dynamics and emotional range of the song because they have to keep switching octaves. Isn't the point of congregational singing congregational singing? It's not you. You keep doing what you're doing cuz it's great. I just wondered if you as a vocal coach had any secrets to solve the dilemma of the both infamous and ubiquitous "octave jump" song . But I guess it is what it is.
@worshipvocalist
@worshipvocalist Жыл бұрын
@@dudabradc thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful response. I truly appreciate it! I love that you care so much about the congregation - that is absolutely our role, and you're right, this is a challenge with many of the popular songs today! @worshipvocalist
@worshipvocalist 3 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend choosing a key that will work for everyone, because it's not possible! The best strategy is to choose the key that works best for the person leading the song. Others can choose to sing on par with them, up or down the octave, on harmony, etc.!

@worshipvocalist
@worshipvocalist 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Josephine! It really depends on what you’re hoping to do... do you mean for using at home on your computer? There's so many good options out there, but the simplest setup is to buy a USB mic that connects directly to your computer for home recording. USB mics aren’t the pro studio choice, but they’re simple and still quite effective. Here’s a good “shootout” of some popular choices: www.sweetwater.com/insync/usb-mic-shootout-sound-samples/. We’ve used the Blue Yeti Studio a lot, it works well at that price point! For more of a pro setup, you’d need an audio interface and studio mic, and the options are extensive (and can get expensive). Which interface depends on how many inputs you need to record at once, and what kind of computer connection you’re working with. Here’s an overview: www.sweetwater.com/insync/audio-interface-buying-guide/. And then you’ll need a mic, likely a large diaphragm condenser mic… here's a good overview here: www.sweetwater.com/insync/studio-microphone-buying-guide/. For a pretty cost-effective setup, we use a Zoom UAC-2 audio interface (www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UAC2-zoom-uac-2-usb-3.0-audio-interface) and an Audio Technica AT 4040 large-diaphragm condenser mic (www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AT4040-audio-technica-at4040-large-diaphragm-condenser-microphone) into a Mac running Avid Pro Tools (www.avid.com).
