Yes. He calls it "cover"...but he is blending chest with head voice. Very impressive.

It's not really about the "vibrations" moving anywhere as that's a sympathetic sensation; it's about the transition from the anterior to the posterior musculature. Straining, breaking or breathy are all symptoms of the same issue - poorly coordinated breath and glottal compression ratios that do not coordinate the shift from anterior to posterior smoothly. Nothing in here bad for anyone - all are safe techniques, I just think there are more finished sounds that accomplish this faster.

In addition to the great tips, I appreciate so many things in this video! The simplicity of the background/setup (no crazy or fancy lights and decorations). Just a blank wall. Ok. I'm a complete beginner but I do love to sing karaoke. I usually sing mid-range songs but recently I've been wanting to sing Open Arms by Journey. I'm just fascinated by Steve Perry's and Arnel Pineda's voice. So I've been doing some exercises and rewatching your video. I gotta say, your video has helped me a lot. I'm slowly but surely hitting those high notes with less straining than before and less cracking/breaking. I don't aim to be a famous singer but I do enjoy hitting the high notes I used to only dream about. Lol. Love this video. Liked and subscribed!

@@PowerToSinggood news: it did work. I haven’t tested past F4, but it feels like I’m no longer “hitting” these notes, but rather they just show up. It turns out that, after doing it quietly, I can just crank up the volume without breaking. Only things left now are to test done more and figure out my fach.

Thank you the first to exercises are hard for me for me to do but I keep practicing, the third exercises I never could do that but with your technique I managed. Sometimes when I try to sing high my vocals vibrate too much and I end up coughing and with a bit of pain why is that please?

No. Falsetto is caused by the muscle in the vocal cords disengaging. It's not related to tonsils.

Chuck, I’ve watched many of your videos and tried the exercises. I begin with my larynx down (dopey gee), but as soon as I approach anything resembling a high pitch, my neck tightens and my larynx practically shoots out the top of my head. I couldn’t even do one nay-nay with this video. I used to have no problem using head voice in the upper end of my baritone range, but now it’s like my voice says, “Nope, those days are over.” Help!!!

I used to scream in falsetto a lot in my old band and I'm pretty sure I damaged my vocal chords. Can't sing falsetto at all any more and head voice is very shrill. Hoping I can build that connection back over time. This helps.

I'm a baritone and I can go up to B5. I don't know why, but it is easier for me to hit B5 (or Bb5 ) than A5 is there an answer to it? my A5 mostly cracks or how you call it. And I often screamed as a Kid because I thought it was funny... So as I was getting more mature I didn't scream at all, but I remembered how to do it. So I tried screaming again (without annoying anyone 😂) and then I tried to just do high notes or make the note sound My highest then was G5 but now I can go higher because I was screaming everyday. Thats definitely not how you learn to go higher with your voice but I did it. I don't even know what this comment is or where it should help 😂

ben ben: the reason its easier to singer higher is because you are further away from the bridge of the voice. When you get closer to chest voice, you are pulled toward chest and that makes it harder to do. The high notes really are easier.

How do you bubble lip and keep the lips vibrating? Mine stop vibrating. I also run out of breath.

Tension in the lips, mouth and cheeks stop the lips from bubbling. Stay relaxed. Also very helpful is lifting your cheeks upward to take the weight of the cheeks off of the lips. Don't blow too much air. The air and the sound of your voice should be about equal in strength. The underlying sound you are making should be the vowel "uh" as in "fun". Sometimes it takes practice.

@@PowerToSing basically, singing in chest voice seems to need much more effort than singing above that vocal break. I used to sing good and high before puberty. But after puberty my voice seems to all messed up. Lowering the pitch messes up with the singing. I feel much better singing above that vocal break. Secondly, while singing above that vocal break, everyone complains that my voice sounds much more like a woman. I don't know what to do.

@@riksinha5 Puberty has probably messed you up a bit. First step is to establish chest voice. It is the foundation of your voice. Seceond, It's likely that you are singing in falsetto when you are singing above the vocal break. I would start by getting a comfortable chest voice going again and then work your way up. Start with vocal exercises for light chest/ no chest and see what happens. www.powertosing.com/light-chest-no-chest/
