Love this. I’m a middle-aged surfer learning to skate transition and this is pure inspiration. All I want is to be able to flow around a bowl/pool like that. Looks like bliss. As a surfer, the body mechanics come naturally to me, but it’s so much more difficult than it looks knowing how to navigate the bowl. Anyway, thanks for the video and the inspiration. 🙏👍🏼

Thanks! I grew up mostly flatwall, banks and street skating.. after i turned like 40 I tried riding a bowl or two and had NO lines, was like, ~jeez am I even a skater?? sometimes we need some coaching.

First video I see that explains properly how to use the bowl... Looking for something like this for over a year now. As you said. If you see someone better, steal the trick. Thanks and keep up the good skateboarding!

There’s a sequel too , just search my profile and it explains more complex bowls

Im 41 and still skating. I never had the opportunity to skate bowl until i was 28. I can ride it but im so cautious. I am ok on wooden tranistions and indoor parks but every single bad slam i have had in the last 10 years or so has been in the big concrete bowl. It fucking hurts to fall in the bowl. I should probably buy some knee pads... 😝

Great vid. Started learning how to bowl ride this week after skating for 2 months. I'm a half decent mountain biker, and used to pump tracks etc, but that video was a lot of help learking to skate bowls. Cheers man.

ok thats all i have to do. i have been doing it all wrong. just like when they told me to be a better golfer you have to hit the ball well.
@rickbailey53208 ай бұрын
No, not like golf at all really. When you miss hit a golf ball, it doesn’t make you pay in blood 🤷♂️

I'm trying to learn to pump while actually on the wall (like at 05:47 and 05:58) any tips, Rick? I find it strange to psyche up for the 'next' pump when I've just gotten up there. Half the time I just drop off the wall. Pumping feels different on the wall (gravity etc)
@rickbailey53209 ай бұрын
Without seeing, it sounds like you are trying too go too far along or too high for the speed that you are carrying. You should should hit maximum speed when the board is parallel to the coping. Then as you turn to create the next line, the centrifugal force will push you onto the board.
@damianb23749 ай бұрын
@@rickbailey5320 thanks. is it at that last point - as I turn - that I pump as such? this is the part that evades me.

are you riding with rails or bare?
@rickbailey53204 жыл бұрын
godless skate co. I use rails because I like massive slides and doing airs, they are much faster and stable with rails.

@Ezzeenow4 ай бұрын
Good video but to say only indys will do? Disagree. Ace trucks are just as good or better than indys in transition or bowls. The fact that you like indys is your own personal preference.
@rickbailey53204 ай бұрын
Thanks dude, that was literally stated in the video, but at least you are halfway in knowing that 👍🏻
@Ezzeenow4 ай бұрын
@rickbailey5320 You literally said "and the others you can't skate quite the same" That is a false statement. According to you that may be true but in general that is 100% false. I've seen skaters completely rip transition on a variety of trucks so you can't say they're "not quite the same" You would of been better off saying its YOUR OPINION that indys are better, which they're are not but at least your video would of made more sense.
