You make it look easy. I've got a 1400 sq ft rancher we're closing on in 2 weeks and have looked at a lot of videos, but the roller idea looks brilliant. I scraped, sanded and painted about 600sq ft last year and it's a lot of work.

I'm a drywaller and have been curious about trying this method for awhile. Did you try the roller method and did you prefer it? Some of the guys I work with have kind of dismissed the idea and gave reasons why they didn't agree with it, so I'm on the fence about trying it. It seems easier than applying the mud with a drywall knife or trowel tbh

Thanks for your videos. I've been painting for 26 years as a professional house painter and decorative faux finishing artist. Never did drywall because I'd never knew how. Watched a couple of your videos and applyed it to my own home. My skill level skyrocketed because of you. Thank you again. I have a very hideous ceiling texture which I absolutely hate. Plus I have vent holes from the previous air condition to cover up. Going for a smooth effect. Looking great so far. I am located in South Louisiana

I was a USAF wife for my husband’s 30 years-we just hit 39 years of marriage. He was gone so much flying and deploying, I had to teach myself how to fix everything. I taught myself how to repair drywall. My son deployed and I removed several rooms of popcorn ceiling for him while he was deployed while watching his house back East. Well I wish I'd found this channel a lot sooner lol! My current drywall project is mudding and eventually painting a sheet of 4x8 drywall in my ceiling. Turns out that my bathtub plumbing wasn't up to par - a couple sections of pipe weren't even glued. It was only when I replaced the rotted-out bathtub drain to replace it that problems began. So got down and cleaned up all the sodden drywall, had my buddies (former contractors) glue the plumbing and put up a new slab of 4x8 for me. I've done lots of mudding and painting already so have all the tools and knowhow. But I sure didn't know about easing off the corner of the knife to get rid of that stupid line which I always get! Though I am too far along in my project to switch to the roller technique, I will definitely keep in mind. Thanks so much, nothing quite like watching a pro at work! 🙂 ETA one bugaboo I always have...those stupid little corduroy like ripples. Drive me nuts.

@anothergamingchannel2656
@anothergamingchannel2656 10 ай бұрын
Idk depends on what texture you're doing. Skimming blades definetly help but I've done jobs for people who have attempted to use them and still butchered their job. The thing about drywall is it takes practice. It's not something just anyone can do and have it turn out great in most cases. I've rarely seen homeowners work turn out to be as good as ours. Although it has happened at least once in my career, but it took the homeowner months to do what we could've in less than a week. It was a level 5 smoothwall though in their defense

Great video, a technique I hadn't heard of. I am a DYI that has to get done quickly and cannot get a contractor in because they're all booked out for months. My house has an old vaulted ceiling with two layers of texture that's starting to fall off the drywall paper, which started with just bubbling. It didn't take long to realize that I'll need to pull it all off and apply a couple of skim coats before I retexture it. I have limited time and am hoping this technique will be a godsend. I'll let you know when I'm done.

Hi Jessica, yes you can use the Green lid for ceilings.👍🏻 Thats actually what I used for the first skim coat on this textured ceiling. Here’s the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrKHh8-Vuaexc2Q.html I like using the green lid all purpose joint compound when going over textured or painted surfaces because it has a lot of glue in it. So that means it has really good adhesion to those types of surfaces. I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!😎 -Paul

he's got that and then some! He's showing to the majority of those that are not in the BIZ and cannot afford to buy all the bigger end tools and have the ability to purchase a 14 inch trowel/ knife. But yeah I get it, I'm a tool head too, just bought a 24 inch skimmer and 36 inch plaster darby and purchased the Wen drywall sander with vac attachment, I JUST GOTTA STOP ( buying now ) lol, what profits?!

I’m 73 and have avoided skimming all my life. The ceiling under my bathroom was soaked, I’ve renewed the plasterboards and was going to use an oil based primer and then wallpaper it. After watching you making it look easy I have decided to buy the primer and wallpaper it - sorry but I should have seen this when I was young with strength. Many thanks, Colin - retired UK Automobile Association patrolman but keen DIYer.

Just bought some tools yesterday. Gonna try my hand at some repairs on my ceiling in my garage. I sure like this idea of using the roller to get the mud up there. Seems like it would save some shoulder work. Great tip 👍🏼

Undoubtedly the stains on the old part of the ceiling will bleed through the new drywall mud. At some point a stain killer will have to be applied. Any time I remove a texture I do this exact thing. On new ceilings/drywall I glaze the ceiling with a much thinner mud and then spray 1 coat. Painting ceilings with a semi gloss, satin, or eg-shell is a no go. These sheens will highlight all imperfections. Great video.

I’m a building maintenance supervisor for 8 years now and commercial HVAC tech for the 15 years before that. Also a DIY guy. I sucked at drywall until the job I’m at not. Trial and error changed that and I’m pretty confident now. Had water leak and damage to my basement ceiling at home and was looking at texturing videos to get it back to normal now that everything is fixed. The Sheetrock I replaced was basically an entire 4x8 sheet. Going to skim coat and re texture. Thanks for the guidance man👍🏻subbed. #drywalltube

A DIY lady 65+ with a couple of ceiling repairs: 1. water damage in kichen and 2. an ugly crack in LR where someone in attic must have stepped through. Also want to flatten out LR stomp texture but whether I'm up to that job is questionable! Terriffic videos. You are a super teacher and pleasant to listen to. Thanks.

I'm a DIY homeowner. I live in Florida and I have faulty AC ducks that drip water in my ceiling. I have cracks on the tape line and discolored on other spots. I'll be replacing the AC ducks and then fixing the drywall myself. I can't afford to hire someone so I do what I have to. Great video.

Been rehabbing our house for 5 years. 60 years and many layers of paint decided to come off the walls to the bare drywall. So years of scraping and skim coating every surface. This works well when your shoulders are good.
