Man, I'm going to pick some of these up. These slabs are made for collectors like me. I primarily collect raw books that aren't particularly high-cost, mainly just issues and series I enjoy. I also don't want to go through the high-dollar hassle of sending off books to a 3rd party. Most of my "high-dollar" books sit around twenty to one hundred bucks. They're not worth getting pro-graded IMO but still, I want them to display well and slabbed books look so sleek(the UV protection is a plus too). Also, love the fact that I can grade them myself for the personal collection. It's cool to have a DIY way to do this. I just wish the top nubs looked less clunky. Still, this is one of the better alternatives I've seen so far. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I really appreciate this video. This is exactly what I've been looking for. There are so many DIY ways to make our own books more valuable. Anyone can learn to press and dry clean their own book. With this they can slab to keep the book in excellent condition. Sometimes market conditions, like the one's we are in today, don't warrant a pro grade but these skins allow a kind of "hold" until grading is warranted. I'm also surprised we are not seeing more comics selling on Ebay with just a nice slab with a press and cleaning.

When I was a kid I bought many mid 70 comics in great condition. I used an iron between cardboard and towels to get most wrinkles out. There are several apps you can use to get a price to go by.

Nice vid. I have a few coming in and I am working on a label. I would say that the label quality could be better. I would like some editing ability, in order to move the fields a bit. Looks good enough but it could be much better.

Thanks for making this video! I just ordered a 5 pack and look forward to receiving them. Maybe I’ll get my books slabbed for real if the wait times ever decrease 😏

Wish those black snap tabs that secure the cases were also clear like the case. It would look even cleaner and more like a real slab.

The low views only indicate people are asleep in this hobby and they let the algorithm control them, this need to become bigger not everyone collecting comics is interested in key comics solely as an access and just want preservation of their key books at an affordable price and don’t want to deal with the likes of cgc

I like this idea. If comic book stores or dealers ever grade their own comics through this method, the comic book which is being graded can be removed for closer review to see if the grade is accurate. To make sure the dealer/store is not over grading the comic book.

This is not for that. It’s for personal use. To display books that are not worth the cost of getting graded if the intent is to re-sell.

Loved the video 📹. Just one question how many people are going to lie!!! how good their own comics are someone can say 9.8 when its really a 6.8 so that's the only issue with this process.
@thedigitaldivide3958 Жыл бұрын
I only use these for display. I stopped putting estimated grades on them. These are for personal use in my opinion. If I were to sell one of these on Ebay I would sell it for the raw FMV + the value of the slab only.

Good video. I’m surprised that a comic store or chain (we have Big B comics ) doesn’t use this and grade themselves

I’ve slabbed 10 of my own books so far using this method. Not sure if I’ll continue but it’s a neat alternative. I think companies like CBCS provide a pretty good compromise between cost/time investment compared to CGC though, I plan to use them for future books.

Looks pretty awesome, but does the case scratch easily and break easily?
@rchapoteau11 ай бұрын
Would be awesome if this was cheaper. At the price they charge you might as well go with a grading company unless you want to be able to open it again.

are these the same as the EGS holders(minus the security sticker/seal)?

Does the company explain what the added tabs are for at the too of the slab?

Gator gaurds look interesting but 30 dollars a book makes you have to make decisions on your best valued books.
@AnthonyOldhandGarcia2 жыл бұрын
That's too much to deal with. Try looking into Gatorguard comicbook cases with colorful or clear screws to choose from to your personal liking to match the comicbook cover for a clean look especially with clear screws which does the work, the cases almost looks like a professional grade casing like CGC or CBCS, but no grading labels just the case and screws that comes with it to display your favorite comic securely. Also buy the same comicbook you like that is decent looking to keep to read and keep the same copy of the comicbook that's in better condition to be sent to get graded to a reputable grading company.

But they don't offer magazine size. Mill Case does, but won't have available stock until next year... and they are expensive, like a $100 for four. And the Mill Case is like a CD jewel case. I really need magazine size for my Love and Rockets collection. If anyone knows where I can get DIY magazine slabs... At a reasonable price please let me know.

Is ComicSkins that only company that is making Do it yourself Slabs? I have heard that the older or current CGC, CBCS, PGX slab wells used a type of Acid that would ruin the comic books. Do you know what this Acid is called? Also the Slabs also cause the comic book pages to oxidize the white pages into yellowish pages because its trapped inside a Slab?

Paper Girls has a flaw in the Capital P - a dent. Doubt it would back it off a 9.6/9.8
@thedigitaldivide39582 жыл бұрын
It actually came back at 9.8, got it graded at CGC shortly after making that video

So basically any graphic editor can make the label instead of using their licensed online tool.
@djoneforever2 жыл бұрын
BTW, why pay for a license ? Why don't u just make and print your own labels at home?

Here's a way to spend almost as much as CGC, yet not get any grading or price bump! Sorta like NA beer. All the stink, none of the drink.

That's true if your only intention is flipping books. That's not who this is for, it's for collectors who just want to display lesser valued books.

PGX, CGC and CBCS do it better. But I do find this interesting.
