I love the info regarding the facial feedback hypothesis. When I was a child, my mom used to always tell me to smile. I don't think she knew about the formal hypothesis, but she knew it made you look and feel better. Now I know why. I will try to steer the judges toward this subject in my interview.😊

Girl. I feel you. I literally HATE my smile. It looks SO weird. Kinda like Adrianna Lima (the Victoria Secret supermodel) who smile and looks weird. Some of us look better with a closed mouth smile.

Hi I love you videos 💕😭 What if we couldn’t afford braces growing up and still can’t afford braces or Invisalign. I’m getting into Pageants and I just don’t know about how I feel about about my smile i practice in the mirror some many times, I don’t think it’s going to impress the judges. Any advise or ideas? 💜

Another tactical top is to apply plain Vaseline ( petroleum jelly, ) to your gums and teeth before going in stage. This combats dry mouth coming from nervousness and makes it easier for you to smile longer. It also prevents lipstick from sticking to your teeth. Speaking of lipstick sticking to your teeth, after you apply ypur lipstick, wipe inside your upper lip down to where your lipstick starts. This will also prevent excess lipstick from sticking to your teeth. 😊

What if a big smile is by farrrr the least flattering on your face? My big smile is terrible, my mouth is very inflexible and my smile at its biggest is just a weird cheshire cat sliver. My closed mouth smile is also by far my most flattering look. Can I win with just doing a closed mouth smile? I can get an okay big smile when I laugh, but holding an attractive big smile is just not possible for me.

Hi! There is no one-size-fits-all advice when it comes to smiling but a genuine smile tends to also make the eyes crinkle - it’s a interpreted more unconsciously as a signal for how the judges can most quickly see your emotional state. I wouldn’t worry too much about what your face looks like when you are smiling very widely. How you feel you look isn’t always what others see. I’d be more worried that judges who have never seen you before may read your halfway, closed mouth smile as “she doesn’t seem that enthusiastic.”

This is super subjective and everyone has their own opinion but statistically speaking, most winner have long hair that is curled and teased for lots of volume

Hi Isha, it’s not a hard and fast rule that you have to have dental alignment but it helps if it makes you more confident and increases how much you smile.

A lot of that has to do with self-perception. You might in fact not be any of those things at all but the words that you tell yourself have more power than the words anyone else can tell you. You might have a really beautiful smile!
