I have watched a bunch of your videos and liked them. I watched them because I purchased a portable "Pit Boss" for a mother's day gift. I wanted to see how good it is and i believe i made a good choice.

The lid is supposed to be open to let the first smoke out then close it .. to prevent exploded. It says it in the manual.. its video on youtube that it did and has caught fire . Ur one of the lucky ones ..

It’s not a matter of whether it works or not. The way you’re telling people to do it can injure someone. The grill needs to be turned to smoke and left open until the initial heavy white smoke clears. You don’t want combustion gases going into the hopper.

When you are using lower temperatures does the Dan almost sound like a whistle not running all the way almost
@MRGREGSHOWTO

Howdy, partner! I have never heard any whistling sounds, but it does run quieter at low temps.

Just got one and first cook the hopper smoked like crazy. Seems the fire burns too high and flows back to hopper and not grates. Anyone else see this.

@@MRGREGSHOWTO I have seen 13.1 x 14.4 on another model, but it had a smaller hopper than the one you demonstrated.

ok..i have a question for you. I have purchased one and used mesquite pellets and now want to use the charcoal flavor pellets. How do I empty the hopper to have only the new pellets in it.
@MRGREGSHOWTO
@MRGREGSHOWTO 2 жыл бұрын
Hey partner! I’m not sure but I imagine once it’s cool you could probably tip the grill over to dump out most of the pellets. Then just prime the auger to spit out any remaining. Let us know how the charcoal pellets are - never used them before! Yum!
@adamjames4913
@adamjames4913 Жыл бұрын

@MRGREGSHOWTO
@MRGREGSHOWTO Жыл бұрын
Howdy partner! Try keeping on the low temp smoke setting for at least a good 30 minutes at first. Works best if the meat is room temperature too. Best of luck!
@calvinbennett3249
@calvinbennett3249 Жыл бұрын
I always (and the owners manual states this as well) start the smoker on the smoke setting until it gets up to 180. Then I put my meat on for a bit , after 5 to 10 minutes I then move it to my desired cooking temp. Also with pellet smokers (or any smoker) leaving the lid closed as much as possible is key.
