Hi Everyone, welcome to the Ranger Shop! Where we talk about everything Ford Ranger!
I love these little trucks, they are cheap easy to modify and great off road.
Please follow along if you have a Ranger and want to learn about modifying and repairing it.

There's a channel called build something, the guy built a custom explorer with an old bronco power steering unit and had a fix for the issue with bleeding the unit.

Awesome appreciate the tip, I’ll check it out. I ended up putting my little vacuum pump on it while cycling it. No more air now. 👍

Nice job. What did you do about the abs valve? Obviously, you have no abs sensors. Did you put a proportioning valve in?

Thanks! You’re right I disconnecting the ABS valve and removed it. Running stock master cylinder, as of right now no proportioning valve. Since I’m drum brakes in the rear I’m hoping I’m not going to be too bad but I’ll keep you posted. If I need one I’ll just run one of those small adjustable one on the rear line.

What power steering lines did you use I’m doing a solid axle on a sport trac and am wondering what steering lines to use

I bought the stock ranger pressure line and the stock 1979 F150 pressure line then took them into a hydraulic hose shop they joined the two in about 30min as I waited. Cost 60$ They also used a swivel fitting which was perfect then I could line up the hoses perfectly and lock them down. 👌👍

This may be a dumb question, but would this process work on a 2wd frame? I would be adding a t-case/transmission later. Thanks!

It depends if has the torsion rods then yep it would be the same. If it has the coil spring pockets built into the frame then it would be different

Why an aux tank in the bed and not a bronco 2 tank behind the rear axle.bsimilar to a dual tank setup. Plenty of options on how to fill it and link it to the fuel system.

Yeah it is a good idea using a Bronco 2 tank but I don’t like how they hang down and it’s a ton of weight on my back frame when I’m already towing my off road trailer. It has a tongue weight of 400lbs. So what I’m going to do is make a removable one for the bed using a TJ jeep tank right behind the cab so the weight is more forward. Hope that makes sense…. It’s good for me and my application but 90% out there a B2 tank would be perfect 👍

So far with the added weight of the front axle? What's your gas mileage on the highway & city?

Sorry about the delay. Last trip out I didn’t actually measure it. I know around town has dropped but I feel like the highway is about the same. I filled up in the same spots as last time pulling my trailer. I went from 4:10 to 4:56 gears but also 32” tires to 35 so that’s probably why city driving took a hit. I’ll report back when I have a more accurate figure.

@@RangerShop1 I'm pretty much the same way as well. 4.10 to 4.56 gear, body lift, rooftop tent, overland rack, winch bumper. I'd say 14 mile per gal in city and 19 mile per gal hwy. Just didn't put in my axle yet, a tune & snorkel

That sounds about right… and when I’m towing my trailer that drops to about 8miles a gallon 😬😁
