Your lessons and videos are so great! I love your knowledge and your general demeanor. I remember hearing in one of your videos that you are based out of Nashville. I live in the middle of the Colorado mountains now teaching drums and playing music as much as I can, but will actually be relocating to Nashville come Autumn. Hope to get to see you play a good amount once I'm out that way! Be well and keep up the great work

Jeff, killing it as always! Just so dam applicable every time. It's your left foot that kills me. Never stops. Something I need to work on myself, adds that extra layer of texture to everything you do!

Thanks as always Ben! Believe it or not, it’s harder for me to play around the kit WITHOUT that left foot going at this point! Haha. I’ve always loved the sound and feel of it there.

Awesome one. In the exact same spirit, you can play the downbeats [ Rll ] and the upbeats [ rrL ]. Since each pattern is an eighth note, you can group patterns till they fill up the 8 eighth contained in a bar. For instance, 3+3+2 (which could be played [ Rll rrL Rll ] [ Rll rrL Rll ] [ Rll rrL ]). Substitutions work great too. Example : [ Rll ] = Right, and [ rrL ] = Left. Now you can play any rudiment substituting the rights with the first pattern, and the lefts with the second one. Example : a paradiddle is RLRR LRLL. Which would become : [ Rll ] [ rrL ] [ Rll ] [ Rll ] [ rrL ] [ Rll ] [ rrL ] [ rrL ]. Awesome each time :)

Hope you guys enjoy this one! Make sure to stay loose as you're working on it. The speed will come after the control is there! If you'd like to take these concepts further, you can book a one-on-one online lesson with me here: jeffrandalldrumming.com

Reminds me of an exercise that can be done with Ted Reed's Syncopation. Reading the exercises as swung triplet accents. Moving around the kit, to cymbals, and as 5 stroke rolls is an awesome application!

These are the best drum videos on the net for me, on my level. Really good. Fills in the gap of lessons I m tired of following. Everything thats fun:. Funk, new Orleans, these triplet fills, Pepper grooves,... I know these things all a litlle but this helps to go further, without hours of talking. Good balance between simple and advanced. Just Grooves and transscriptions. Good work !

Hey, thanks Brent! Not doing much playing downtown at the moment man. Funny how those gigs dry up when you go off on tour... Mostly focused on teaching and KZfaq in between runs these days. Do you play down there?
@brentdavis3611
@brentdavis3611 5 жыл бұрын
Jeff Randall Yea i could see that dry up happening. Wasn’t sure if you happen to pick up side gigs now and then when not on tour. Iv spent the last 5 years in my part time band and my full time job. I’m really looking to explore the subbing world and play full time. Mainly just for the need to play, but also to meet and connect with others. Your technique is on point and i enjoy watching. Thanks again.
