this is the first time I'm learning this method that too in a levels. I wonder why school always taught us the cross multiplication method. Thank you for making things easier

Thanks for the tutorial, however couldn't you have done cross multiplication to shorten down the working out?

I hate using the expression cross multiplication and would not encourage it. It is a 'dirty method' and will only work when you have two terms. You must always understand that you are multiplying both sides by the lowest common multiple of the denominator.
