I was overwhelmed with trying to use my scraps. And my beautiful yardage was just sitting there. I found a friend that loves scrappy quilts. Now they all go to her. I keep a large priority box and fill it up. She pays the postage and we are both happy.

Thank you Sheri, I have several of the same IKEA storage bins in white and had them set out to donate! I rescued them and I’m now putting them to use! Always get a nugget of information that I can put to use. Thank you for the videos and love your quilts and fabric designs. 🧵✂️

Thank you very much for this! I have so many scraps to tackle and this helps with the motivation. I would love to see a video sometime that actually deals with the decision process on some of those pieces. That's sometimes where I get stuck.

Thank You. I love to see your videos it has so much info. in them and I can clean out my scraps and start to cut them up, with the ones I use the most first and move on with others. It sure is easier to sort your scraps after each project. I just went through two large bins of scraps!! Scraps from quilts, bags and now face masks! It was a lot!! I felt like I was drowning! But, once I got it all into piles my creative juices started flowing!! Was able to make a very large lap quilt all out of scraps! Oh yes, I still have more!! Those little guys grow like dust bunnies! Thank you for sharing your process! BTW, I love your quilts!!!

I was overwhelmed with the biggest storage bins (5 of them) filled up with scraps. I finally put them in like colors into zip lock bags.I have so many bins with different cuts already to go into quilts. This helps me get organized to cut them. I also use my Accuquilt to cut them into different sizes. Thanks for this video.

This was great and it provided some motivation. I just keep taking my scraps and stuffing them into a bin, promising myself I'll organize them soon. My stash is beginning to overwhelm me. I think I'll follow your advice and split this task into a few sessions.

Wow! Thank you Sherri. I am also new to quilting and have bought 4 maybe 5 different brands of rulers and I love them all. Here I thought that I should only be using 1 brand but, now that I see you use many varieties you have shown me that I do not need to part with any of my rulers! Taking scraps from making mask and cutting them into useable squares. Mostly 2.5 2.0 and 1.5 inch squares. This all makes beautiful items

Thank you for this. Scraps are daunting for me and I don’t like to throw out fabric. I like your process and I’m going to start today with it. I do donate my smaller scraps to Human Society Thrift store. I mark bags with “Crumbs”, or small scraps, or orphan blocks so they can display the packages immediately. Somebody will love them.

Yes, this did help! TFS! During this pandemic I have scraps everywhere! So I am going to do the bin idea and the fat eighth idea as well. I already have boxes of strips n squares and getting a bit overwhelmed! TFS!

This was so helpful! I know what sizes I tend to use and need but it’s the sorting where I get stuck. I have a large bucket and throw stuff in there and it’s currently so stuffed that if I dump it out it comes out into the shape of the bucket. 😅. I’m making a start on sorting them after watching this. Thanks!

I have an Accuquilt die that cuts 1"/1.5"/2" strips all in one pass and I have another die that cuts all 2.5" strips.....so you know I would be pressing those scraps and cutting using the dies. So super fast and easy!!! :)

Awesome ideas, I guess one question I have is wouldn’t you save the larger pieces “as is” and then cut to size when you want to use it? Rather than take up time cutting it? Does that make sense?! Thank you for your time ❤️😀

Yes, this video helps so much. Sometimes it’s just too much to focus on what to do. I’m really determined to get my scraps organized. My main problem is what to do with fabric that I don’t like or won’t use again? My taste has changed some in the last few years. Do I just toss them? Donate them, I hate to waste. Any ideas for me? I have a question : The storage pre-cut fabric is for only quilting geometric patchwork ? because when we make patchwork appliqué or patchwork landscape etc... we need larger fabric. So we don't have enough fabric dimension for doing that if we pre-cut it. What do you think about it ?

Being a newbie to quilting, I have what most will probably consider a pretty dumb question...what size are Fat Quarters and Fat Eights? I know what a 2-1/2" strip is, but the others are a little confusing for me. Thanks!

Fat Quarter is a squarish piece that measures @ 18 x 22 inches. Consisting of a quarter yard of fabric. Fat eighth measures @ 9 x 22. And so is an eighth of a yard. Technically the measurement shouldn't be approximations, but can vary by manufacturer. The better quality fabric you buy, the more accurate cuts your fabrics will be. A fat quarter is a very popular size for quilters to buy. It gives you a nice big piece of fabric without having to buy a lot of yardage.

Low volume prints are "quieter" prints, subdued patterns, usually on a white, cream, or beige background. The pattern and tone is subtle or there is a lot of negative space on the fabric. Low volume prints can be used as background prints, in a minimal- style project, or as a contrast to darker, brighter, bolder colors in the project. That, at least, is my understanding of low volume fabrics.
