Yes, I think both the Ram's Head and Triangle doubles nicely as early era fuzz. However, a Big Muff isn't quite a fuzz so to my ears, a fuzz, like the Rusty, would be more suitable for the 68-75 tones.

@gilmourishofficial Жыл бұрын
It should go first as fuzz pedals just sound better when they can "see" your pickups. It will respond more to your playing and if you want to clean it up withe guitar volume. That being said, this one is not as sensitive to buffers as the more vintage style fuzz pedals.
@Zilmayjaink Жыл бұрын

As always, great demo! I swear, I think you could demo a half broken box of rocks and get it to sound like Gilmour! I’ve had my eye on this pedal for awhile, then got distracted. Two questions- does it clean up decently (ex: “Money”), and does it play nice with others? Getting some fuzz pedals to play well with some overdrives has been an issue for me, especially at playing in a small bedroom/rec room setup. Thanks again, Bjorn!
@gilmourishofficial2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's a silicon transistor fuzz, which doesn't clean up as well as germanium. Depends on the pickups though. You can roll off some of that gain on low output passive single coils. It can handle buffers etc but how it sound with other pedals, stacked, depends on what pedals and how much gain you use.
@chrisradzion21482 жыл бұрын
@@gilmourishofficial thanks for the reply! I’m using a Mooer Blue Faze at the moment (bc108 Fuzz Face clone), and it’s ok, but I feel I need something a little better, especially volume wise. I should probably just save up and get one of those Dunlop Hendrix Micro Fuzz Face pedals (they are the same size as the Mooer, but you can switch between silicon and germanium, and it has a buffer option), but they’ve become harder to find and are about $175 US. That’s it of my budget right now, unless I get lucky like I did with my PowerBoost and find a used one on the cheap. The Rusty Fuzz might be a good option for me. Thanks again!

The Rusty Fuzz has considerably more gain compared to a Fuzz Face. It's somewhere between a Fuzz Face and Tone Bender. This one also got a bit of low end and mids, which takes it closer to a Sovtek era Big Muff. Unlike most fuzz pedals, the Rusty can be placed anywhere within the board.

Hi Bjorn, since we are already on the subject of TC, I wanted to ask you, do you think that the tape mode on the TC Electronic Flashback is a good replacement for a Dawner Prince Boonar when it comes to replicating an Echorec? I am thinking about buying the Flashback as my next pedal, so I can do multiple types of delays.
@gilmourishofficial2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how picky you are. I don't think the quality of the signal or tone is as good, and the Boonar has much more features when you dig into it, but the Flashback has some really nice tones and you can tweak it further with the Tone Print feature. Hard to beat for the price. It's worth checking out the EHX Canyon as well. Very similar to the Flashback but it has an overall more organic sound.

If you have the TC FB2, then you can get the toneprints of the TC AlterEgo (Proguitarshop collaboration) which (I think) have recently been made available as toneprints and include at least two Echorec toneprints. I think this toneprint availability was announced in their video for the latest firmware update of the TC Plethora X5. I use the AlterEgoV1 ER setting and I like it. It's got chorus in it. The AlterEgoV2 has 2 ER settings, also with chorus and are slightly different. The regular FB2 tape setting is ok but more like neutral subtle delay. The EHX Canyon is not stereo BTW but maybe the deluxe version is.
