We've noticed that fish farmers buy our solar powered water pumps to help them look after their ponds - and now we're trying to learn all we can about fish care 😅😇 We focus on irrigation for food and flower growing normally! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us all!

Nice work! Did you find any fry? I suggest that you add a lot more aquatic plants to the shelves....that would be such a great benefit to absorb all the nutrients and may help with algae!?! The fish would enjoy having the plants in there as well... Especially water lilies/ Lotus and floating plants. Water lettuce water/ hyacinth, the fish would love the shade... but, they may nibble on them.

Fun to watch

Informative video as I am just learning how to maintain my fish pond that came with the new (to me) house that we bought. I am wondering though, why you didn’t leave the water lever low for 24 to 36 hours so the sun will kill the algae on the rocks once there is no water getting to it? I had string algae all over my waterfall, so I let the water levers of my pond evaporate in the sun, I turned off everything and left my fish in the pond. I put in a spare aerator, and I lifted out a bunch of big rocks with string algae from the bottom (where they had fallen-in) and put them out along the edge. In 48 hours… most of the algae was dead. I then took a course plastic brush and brushed off the dead algae (trying not to get it all in my pond) and then filled the pond back-up as you did. I also added a 2nd home-made filter to the pond to collect all the extra residue. I’m sure people will tell me if I did something wrong 😂 but I grew up in a desert with no algae growing anywhere, and I have moved to a coastal/rain forest environment, where there is lots of water and lots of algae…. So I thought I’d remove the water and let the algae die…… I didn’t get all the algae, of course….. Amy I just lazy? Lol

Very similar to my situation / pond. Do you use a UV system on your pump to help with the algae? Also do you leave your waterfall running 24 / 7, for circulation? (I have a secondary pump, which also has UV that I use for a small fountain in the center, but I don't run my waterfall all the time - although thinking of doing that this year.

In another video you used hydrogen peroxide to clean/kill off the string algae. Do you still use it? I'm trying to figure out how best to maintain my pond without using a lot of harsh chemicals. I've read it can be done if you get the right balance of plants in the pond. I noticed you don't have a lot of plants in yours. I did use peroxide in my pond and it helped with killing off the string algae. I'm concerned about killing off the beneficial algae that grows on the rocks and sides of the pond. I clean out as much by hand as I can. I plan on getting in the pond to do this better with a pool vacuum once the water and air temperature is a little warmer. But I feel like if I wait too long the string algae will get out of control. Anyway thanks for the video.
