Spray the deck with a hose before cleaning to help it not dry out. I made that mistake. Also u can use a sprayer for the cleaner instead of dipping the brush every single time.

Mitre 10, my deck has gone soft and spongy over the years as it's quite old, do you have any advice for making my wood nice and hard again? Cheers
@mitre10nz
@mitre10nz 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Luke, sounds like it may need to be completely re-done with new timber. What kind of wood is it? You may be able to get away with replacing just the softer bits. Best thing to do would be to take a bunch of photos and head into your local store and chat with the team about best options ^Charlie

@@mitre10nz Thanks for the advice Charlie, I'll take some deck pics and show them to the staff at my local Mitre 10 near Whakatane, hopefully they'll help me get my old deck back to its former glory

After cleaning the deck with the deck clean, how long did you wait for it to dry before staining ? 24 hours?
@TheClaudos
@TheClaudos 7 жыл бұрын
Six to12 hours is pretty adequate, but always check manufacturer's specifications as each are different. I rather water blast as I am not using chemicals and doing the job and drying times is quicker.

@mitre10nz
@mitre10nz Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We recommend staining after a few months, or a few seasons to allow the wood to completely dry, which will allow for a much better finish and protection once stained. ^Cam

What's the difference between an oil based vs water based deck stain?
@mitre10nz
@mitre10nz 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Serena, there are advantages to both - we'd recommend having a chat to the team at your local store and they'll be able to talk you through what might be the best choice based on the environment/local conditions and what you're wanting for the finished look ^Matt
