I use a different method to keep my car flat... When I stall, right after I stall, I hold air roll. It cancels the directional air roll button and keeps it from air rolling more

Is there a video on the best/most used button config? I don't even have my config set to left/right air roll, I just hold air roll and turn with analogue.

Personally I’ve made a stall bind to square and I just have to counter airroll it’s pre good

At this point i instinctively do it, but i also cancel so fast that i sometimes do not even move, i stay completely still like there was no movement to correct with opposite air roll, may be i buffer the opposite air roll sooner as well? maybe i do movement right -> air roll left and release -> jump+air roll right and release

For directional air roll and jump you are using the same binds as me so I was already doing this lol

somehow this doens't work for me. not even the normal stall. when i hold both joystick to right and airroll left and then jump it just makes a sideflip to either one of both directions. even if i delay to click airroll or to turn the stick it won't work. feels like psyonix doesnt want me to learn this mechanic.

Wow all this science instead you can just stalk normal and then if you lower the controler deadzone, then you can just learn to barely move your joystick one direction and then push it the opposite.

How can i make sure im pressing straight to the side most of the time? It seems like even the smallest bit of angle makes me do a front or back flip. My controller is relatively new so it shouldn’t be a deadzone issue.

This has nothing to do with an "input buffer" This works because RL cars are subject to simulated physics based momentum, changes to their momentum takes a few mil-seconds to take affect. The game is designed this way for a reason, if not for momentum control feedback would feel very wrong and jittery.
