The Field Marshall is a very unique tractor. This model is my dads 1949 Series 2. We bought it at a farm auction and had to do a lot of work to get it running nicely. Hope you guys enjoy!

I had a crawler like it . When came time to sell it at auction , I was to give it a cold start . I`d run out of starter papers . An old guy stepped out from the crowd and had a big draw on a rollie cigarette and screwed it in . Worked a treat .

This takes me right back to my childhood, when the thresher set came to the next door farm. I could listen to this all day. Thanks for uploading. Classic!

That 2 stroke can release an electromagnetic pulse, make a gas dynamic laser out of the exhaust to do this.

I love the huge crankcase pressured 2 stroke. Whats it around 260 cubic inches?

When it's underway, it really sounds wonderful. The trick with the threaded flywheel, to build up momentum before compression is genius (Says the man who's crank started his Citroen ID: Not THAT easy!)

kinda like the old massey ferguson or farmall ... side cranks are always nice, minimizes the odds of getting ran over, and it did happen in the day with front crankers, fergys what not

does that tractor have a design that pushes the crank bar out when the engine starts?

. Now a days engg make tractors with a thousand sensers, hard to replace parts to make the farmer scratch in furustration.

This model seems to be running anti-clockwise the one I have seen run clockwise. Strange.
@robinpearn67364 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right Walter. I remember,as a child, when the tractor sat ticking over, driving the threshing machine, The right hand pulley, as you view it, driving the belt, turned anti-clockwise.
@richardbruce81114 жыл бұрын
Correct! first marshalls (3 speed) ran ANTI clockwise Then to get 6 speeds they put in an xtra countershaft & ran engine CLOCKWISE! ( or you got 6 reverse & 2 forward) all crawlers & 6 speed were same ,first tractors were 30 HP then by improving air admission they got 12 hp extra! this overloaded the piston pin(gudgeon) which was then fitted with needle roller bearing the first (3 speeds) were a great tractor but the pinion drive to the "bull wheel" cog in the dif should be REGULARLY replaced as they tended to wear & drop a tooth Which rotated with the bull wheel & split the gear case as it had no clearance! OH yeah start with a SPECIAL 12 ga shot gun shell NOT a n ordinary cartridge! (yes some nuts try!) A fun machine sounds cute but BEWARE the chimney can start FIRES!
