The job only took me two hours to complete and I made $1270 dollars. Great work. For bigger jobs, don't be afraid to act like a general contractor and hire out subs to do the various stuff out of your range. You might find yourself evolving

There isn’t a software that is used to price the quotes but I can go into greater detail.

No I did not I actually start getting jobs that required a skid steer at first so I rented then after a good while decided to purchase my first once the work became more consistent. But before I had no prior experience with machines you can really be proficient after a year of running equipment.

I have a roll off dumpster business and I’m trying to expand as a one man show into skid steer work any suggestions? I’ve been told Kubota is the way to go longevity by multiple grading companies for skid steers

Don't forget insurance, licensure and machine trailer truck payments and depreciation. Those are all costs to the business. Also...PAY YOURSELF.

I’m not including that because those numbers are all subjective to your business and each person has different cost I’m simply just showing how much I charged for the job do people can see where I am at price wise

How do you find leads? I have business cards, i give them out. I have a fb and ig. I can never get leads, do i start to knock door to door?

That’s not enough to get leads you have to create a website run google ads, Facebook make your SEO on your website good pay for leads on the best lead services network with local other small business and just use the tactic I like to use which I call Guerrilla Marketing stemming from Guerrilla Warfare. Meaning you have to use unconventional ways to get leads for this business there is no set and stone way on acquiring customers in this business.

I want to buy a skid steer or smaller articulated loader. But coming in at over $50,000 for just the machine I’d have to leverage every little bit of credit I have just to get one machine. Not even including truck and trailer…. Seems almost impossible to get started:(

You can get one piece of equipment at a time you can rent the machine at first and focus on getting a truck and trailer to start your business. Then keep working your way up that’s the way I did it this is years of waiting and making the right decision

You state how much profit you made, but didn't take equipment costs into account. ie: truck, skidsteer, trailer and maintenance costs/insurance etc. It's difficult to come up with an actual cost of all that, breaking the chainsaw factors into this as well. I suggest to keep track of those costs for 6 months and divide it by the number of days worked. That will at least give you a daily cost to subtract from the total cost of the job for the day.

CDL requirements are based on the gvwr of your truck and trailer's capacity combined. If you use your Dad's dually you are 16k for the dually and 14k for your current trailer. The dually plus dual trailer is a trigger to be pulled over
