Looking forward to your comments! It definitely takes effort, but somethingi really enjoy doing. I wanted to keep this video feeling organic just like any song writing process so hopefully it feels natural and not completely planned out because it's not always easy to plan how to write a song. The end product is not a fully finished song but hopefully provides everyone with tools and ideas on how to write their own songs!

@@SynthDesigner Finally got some time to sit down and watch through! I liked the point about creating additional layers from scratch, I'm definitely guilty of doing some preset surfing hoping to stumble upon a sound that just happens to pair nicely with something I already have. I definitely need to spend some more time working on transition effects too. I spend too much time on them when I use them. Need to focus on improving that so it's a much more time-efficient process!

@@_mickmccarthy I hear you on taking too much time on things. I like to get a general idea down and then move on. I substitute things out later and make them as good as possible, but don't think about it too much at the beginning. And yes, just coming up with layers on your own is a big time saver! I really agree on the part when you said that 50% is choosing the right sounds. Specially in this genre. I figured this out really late in my synthwave production journey. Good thing you bring it up ! Really good learning video! Thanks !

Thanks for watching! Yes, sound selection is such a critical aspect of song composition and mixing. It makes life so much easier. I want to do a video devoted to it some day because I feel like it's a valuable skill to learn and have.

Love this content and subscribed! I'm a bass player just getting into production and it's hard to know where to start at times, opening that DAW for the first time is really overwhelming! You very graciously have taken a lot of the mystery out of producing a track and made the process very accessible.

You don't need send effect on bus. You route from bus to delay/reverb channels instead of sidechain and control amount of effect with knob at the bottom of effect channel. It's louder at peak and easier to manage.
