How to start an auction business step by step. Whether you are selling part time or full time we have added some tips and tricks that may be helpful building an auction and reselling business. Whether you want to start a business selling in live auctions or internet auctions there will be something here for you. Parkhill Auctions and Estate Services has been a full service auction house and estate liquidator for over 25 years. Our goal is to start to build this channel as a resource for our auction buyers, resellers and new KZfaq subscribers.

Love treasure hunting. But I sell at flea markets and garage sales. I do put things on Craigslist and Facebook Market to sell when flea markets and garage sales are off season in my area. No co-assignments. I buy and sell, I also hunt on curb treasures and dumpster treasures. Be surprise how many people just give things away or sell very cheaply and you turn around and sell it. I don't keep things around at very long periods. If its still around after 3 months. I sell at cost to get rid of it. Not once lost money on anything. Love it and enjoy it. It's always a side hustle. When I lost my job or moving else where. Than sometimes it's a full time job, until I can find a regular 40 hour job. I use this money to travel. As I love traveling.

Hi fantastic video, can you do a video on how you manage the auction and have you deal with vendor listing prosses with multiple lots at once and how you put the auction in a category of furniture and tools for example. Thank you 👍😎

We deal with consignors using a database software program. We do not typically seperate by catogorie. It all goes into one big weekly listing. We do try and put furniture at the top, tools at the bottom and everything else in the middle. If we have front runners that week it goes as lot 1, 2, 3, etc. Here is an example ubidtobuy.com/online-auction-parkhill

Great informative video. Im considering starting a live general consignment auction business in my area. A question ( im in New York state) …during a live auction can the auctioneer bid on items himself? Thankyou.

Kind of a gray area.... Its against the law to "Shill" a bid but there are legal and creative ways to do it. Sometimes the auctioneer can execute a "Reserve" to protect a consignors item. or open it high. If a auctioneer truly wants it its best to have someone bid on the item for the auctioneer. or have a "Proxy bid" . Its best to try and be as honest and transparent as possible....

Curious, how can you go about shipping the product instead of having them pick it up could you include that in the fee for purchasing?

some folks do it that way. We deal in estate goods as well as small stuff. Local pick up works for us. Either option works depending on what your selling and what your business model is. Ill see ya out there!!!

Hi, Could you tell me how you market your auction house to funnel the buyers into your website to purchase via your sites bidding software and not other platforms as i don't want my auction house to be reliant on one single bidding platform for my sales as if they go i have no business?

1. you have to be willing to sacrife merchandise in the beginning to build an audience. 2. social media ads. 3. advertise your event social media. 4 build an email list and send emails when you have an auction. 5. Mail a flyer (expensive) .6. Make a flyer or postcards and get out on the road and hand deliver a stack to every antique shop in your area.
